Glorious Goodwood Tips 2026: Friday’s Best Bets At The Qatar Goodwood Festival

There’s more action at Glorious Goodwood on Friday, with William Hill News bringing you a preview for each race on Day 4 at the 2026 Qatar Goodwood Festival.

13:50 – 2m4½f Goodwood Handicap

Staying is the name of the game in Friday’s opener and I am giving an each-way shout to the French-raider ANNABEL’S GHOST.

Mickael Seror’s charge came over last month to contest the Ascot Stakes at the Royal meeting and I thought he ran a very commendable race to finish fifth, after running into some bother in the final stages.

With a trouble-free passage, I can see this five-year-old finishing close under the former French champion jockey – Pierre-Charles Boudot.

14:25 – 1m Thoroughbred Stakes (Group 3)

TALK OF NEW YORK emerged with plenty of credit on his first Group 1 appearance as he chased home Guineas winners Bow Echo and Gstaad in the St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot.

With nothing of that calibre in the line-up, he can justify his short 4/6 odds in our betting.

15:00 – 1m Golden Mile

After finishing  an excellent third in the Royal Hunt Cup at Royal Ascot last month, INDALO (NAP) can take top honours over this one mile trip.

A narrow runner-up in last autumn’s Cambridgeshire Handicap, Roger Varian’s five-year-old got back to winning ways at Sandown and is holding his form well.

15:35 – 5f King George Stakes (Group 2)

After tipping RUMSTAR (NB) in my ante-post betting column for the Goodwood Festival, I am still very keen on his chances and punters seem to think so too.

After suggesting you take the 6/1 in our ante-post market, Jonathan Portman’s gelding is a general 9/2 chance now.

16:10 – 1m1f Conditions Stakes

Last season’s Cambridgeshire Handicap winner BOILING POINT is running just as consistently as last term and can figure prominently in this conditions race.

Rated 112, a one month break will have done the five-year-old a power of good and he can go well fresh.

16:45 – 6f Nursery Handicap

Andrew Balding likes to use Chester to get some of his string ready for sharp sprints and THE DANCING PIRATE can graduate into handicapping from there.

Jeff Smith’s horses with Balding have been hitting the crossbar this week, so they are due a change of luck with this progressive sprinter.

17:20 – 1m3f HKJC World Pool Handicap

STEEL RAVEN has run and won at some demanding racecourses this season which should stand him in good stead for a racecourse such as Goodwood.

Going away somewhat in the closing stages at Pontefract, that piece of the form looks like a deal breaker to suggest an each-way punt here.

17:55 – 1m2f EBF Fillies’ Handicap

Successful in her handicap debut on July 11, in the Richard “Dick” Robathan Memorial Fillies’ Handicap at Salisbury, the grey filly SILVER LAKE can show her own sex a clean pair of hooves over this 1m2f trip.

Currently a 6/4 poke, the Wathnan-owned three-year-old can make this sphere her own while being trained by the very able William Haggas.
