Glorious Goodwood Tips 2026: Saturday’s Best Bets At The Qatar Goodwood Festival
There’s more action at Glorious Goodwood on Friday, with William Hill News bringing you a preview for each race on Day 4 at the 2026 Qatar Goodwood Festival.
13:50 – 1m6f Summer Handicap
York regular and Ebor fourth STRESSFREE hasn’t quite hit his usual level yet this season, but I feel this could be his time to shine again before a return to the Knavesmire.
The five-time winner generally thrives at 1m6f, so he’s an interesting each-way play at around 16/1 in our market.
14:25 – 1m4f Glorious Stakes (Group 3)
After spectacular back-to-back victories in the Glorious Stakes in 2024 and 2025, AL AASY (NAP) can bring up the hat-trick on Saturday for the William Haggas stable.
Winner of the Listed Charlie Wood Stakes at Beverley on 4 July by over three lengths, this Goodwood course specialist will be hard to topple.
15:00 – 1m6f Lillie Langtry Stakes (Group 2)
DANIELLE (NB) finished a strong second in this Group 2 race last year behind Waardah and can go one better on Saturday.
She arrives here victorious from the Bronte Cup Fillies’ Stakes (Group 3) at York where she was sent off the 1/2 favourite over the 1m6f trip. If she performs to that level again then she will have this race in the bag.
15:35 – 6f Stewards’ Cup Handicap
Although he was never entered in a Group race, SOLDIER’S TREE ran two top-notch races at Listed level and could quite easily have held his own in a Group 3.
The five-year-old gelding finished a close third in the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot and with the James Owen stable simmering along quite nicely this season, I’m of the view that odds of 12/1 in our sports betting look pretty appealing.
16:10 – 7f Handicap
The Wathnan Racing-owned NAVAL LIGHT comes here searching for a hat-trick. He won a Pontefract maiden in May before readily landing a Catterick handicap on 15 July.
There is no logical reason to oppose him based on form and jockey Jack Nicholls takes off a really useful 3lbs.
16:45 – 7f Maiden Stakes (Colts And Geldings)
Sired by the great stallion Wootton Bassett, out of the dam Hidden Breeze, AL WATHBA brings previous experience to the table here, unlike many of his rivals.
Second on his racecourse debut in a seven furlong maiden stakes at Newmarket’s July Festival, he only found the highly-rated Aidan O’Brien Haffner too good for him on the day.
With William Buick in the saddle you would expect him to come on leaps and bounds for his previous run.
17:20 – 1m1f Handicap
The very last race of the five-day Glorious Goodwood meeting can go the way of the Richard Hannon-trained BOYFRIEND.
The five-year-old arrives here in splendid form having recently run two excellent races at Sandown Park.
