Qualifying bets are those placed on any horse race from 17:30 on the day before the race up until five minutes before the start of the nominated Golden Race.
The number of places you have to predict has the potential to change depending on the contest selected. Get your head around the details of the latest edition of our potentially profitable puzzle, as well as the terms and conditions, at the Golden Race promotion page.
Next Golden Race: The Imperial Cup, 2:25, Sandown, Saturday
A typically competitive edition of this old pre-Festival favourite awaits Golden Race players this week, with 12 of the entrants would-be seekers of the bonus on offer for any horse that can win here and again at the Cheltenham next week.
Eight of the last 10 winners have carried 10st 7lbs or less, which isn’t good news for Sandown lovers Call Me Lord (three from four at the track) or Speredek (two from three), both of who m are above the threshold.
The majority of the Imperial Cup runners do carry less than that weight however, including the highly-progressive likely favourite Monsieur Lecoq and Lanzarote Hurdle second Solomon Grey.
Pick the first six home in order to claim your share of £100k, or the whole lot if you’re the only one who nails it.
Should the main prize go uncollected, there’s also a share of the £10k consolation prize pot to be had if you correctly plump for the first and second.
It’d be rude not to bring your brain to bear on the Golden Race
Saturday afternoons are heaven for horse racing fans, with action going on across Great Britain and Ireland and William Hill are giving you the chance to earn entry into an all new equine enigma in return for a tenner bet on any qualifying race.
Whether you’re already an expert at envisaging how races will pan out, a dab hand at forecasts and tricasts, or prefer to go down the route of roving randomness, you’ll be glued to the every second of the Golden Race, as the tactical battle between the jockeys involved plays out.
Will your front-runner be overhauled? Will the favourite flop? Will the hold-up horse pick them all off? Will the also ran stay on into the places? You decide.
