Grand National 2024 Tips

| BY News Team

As soon as the Cheltenham Festival draws to a close, racing fans all over will be looking straight towards Aintree in April for the highly anticipated Grand National, a tremendous race contested over an eye watering four miles and two furlongs by 34 horses.

We preview three of our fancies below.

Horse racing odds

Corach Rambler 12/1

In the 2023 renewal of the Grand National, a display of bold jumping and a prominent ride by jockey Derek Fox saw the 8/1 favourite Corach Rambler give Lucinda Russell her second win in the race, having won prior with Fox on board of One For Arthur in 2017.

It’s hard to overlook Corach Rambler in this year’s Grand National, as Lucinda and her team at the Arlary House stables have had this race in mind for him again this year and will be making an appearance at the Cheltenham Gold Cup in preparation for the slog around Aintree the next month.

Since his win last year, Lucinda’s prized stable star has failed to recreate his best, but given this has been the target race of the year for him, an antepost bet at 12/1 looks a decent shout. There’s no doubt he’ll be given the special treatment following his Gold Cup run, and it’s not beyond the realms at all to see him go off at shorter price come the dropping of the flag in Liverpool.

Noble Yeats 14/1

If you’re looking some value in Grand National, which is a tough ask in a 34-runner field, Noble Yeats has proven to be old reliable in this race over the past couple of years, coming fourth in the 2023 renewal having won it the previous year at 50/1.

Trained by Emmet Mullins, the nephew of one of the greatest trainers to have walked the planet in Willie Mullins, Noble Yeats sits at 14/1 antepost and has major claims going into his third National. Having beaten favourite Any Second Now in 2022 and found the places last year, he could be a smart bet having won most recently around Cheltenham in the Cleeve Hurdle, poised to have a crack at the big race in April. Proven to be a smart traveller and one that can stick it out over heavy ground, Noble Yeats is certainly one to look out for in this year’s renewal.

Mister Coffey 66/1

The final contender on the shortlist is none other than Mister Coffey! Much like Noble Yeats, this is a horse who is having a stab for the third time in this contest, having come 16th in the 2022 edition, improving greatly the following year in 2023 to come home 8th amongst the 17 that managed to finish.

Nico De Boinville has been in the driver’s seat on both of his previous attempts in this race, and should he hop on again, it could be third time lucky! Although a beaten favourite in 2022 at the short price of 5/1, last year’s run was much more positive as a 33/1 outsider, and at 66/1 antepost for this year, the value looks to be there should you fancy an each-way bet. His most recent run at Newbury saw him take third in a 5 horse race, but he managed to get the better of 5/4 favourite Inch House over two miles and seven furlongs, which can only be taken as a positive heading into this year’s national.
