Grand National 2026 Day 2 Lucky 15 Tips

| BY News Team

Day Two of the Aintree Grand National Festival is upon us, and the William Hill News team are on hand with Lucky 15 tips for Friday.

The high-quality action continues the second day of action from Aintree, with four Grade One contests amongst a set of competitive handicaps to get stuck into.

William Hill are the official betting partner of the Aintree Grand National Festival and have two sponsored races on Friday, the opening contest which is the William Hill Handicap Hurdle followed by the Grade 1 William Hill Mildmay Novices’ Chase.

Wellington Arch – 9/1 – William Hill Handicap Hurdle

Kicking off the action in the Lucky 15 is Wellington Arch in the William Hill Handicap Hurdle.

Winning this contest last year, he stayed on strongly to stave off a challenge to get his head in front and has continued to progress through the ranks this season.

He finished second in the William Hill Hurdle at Newbury, finishing 18 lengths clear of his next rival on ground that wouldn’t have been to his liking before getting his head in front once again at Uttoxeter on Midlands National Day.

He does carry a good chunk of more weight this time around, but he is clearly an improving sort, and he looks a good value each way bet to kick off proceedings.

Salver – 4/1 – William Hill Mildmay Novices’ Chase

Salver is the next pick in the Grade 1 William Hill Mildmay Novices’ Chase.

Last seen when finishing the strongest in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, he came out of that contest with a lot of credit considering he didn’t have the easiest trip round having been kicked prior to the start and hampered by a faller during the run.

His finishing effort was most eye-catching, and he can be a threat to all if getting more luck in the run. 4/1 looks a good price.

Addragoole – 33/1 – Topham Handicap Chase

The small matter of the 29-runner Topham Chase over the national fences comes next.

Madara heads the betting at 9/2 after making a mockery of the Plate Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival and has leading claims despite a 10lb rise in the handicap.

At the prices it’s worth taking him on though and one who catches the eye at a big price is William Hill ambassador Gavin Cromwell’s Addragoole who is currently 33/1.

On the face of it, with his run in the Grand Annual at Cheltenham, he didn’t look the best but based on his form, he doesn’t seem to have a liking for the track, and he perhaps raced a touch close to what was quite a fast pace.

If ridden with a bit more patience, he could hit the places at a massive price.

Harry Lowes – 4/1 – Debenhams Handicap Hurdle

Harry Lowes looks a typical improver for the handicap masters Dan Skelton and JP McManus in the closing contest of the day.

He was caught cold on handicap debut when short of room and beaten by Scorpio Rising. That’s transpired into strong form with that horse following up in style in a competitive handicap at Sandown on Imperial Cup Day.

Harry Lowes quickly righted those wrongs on his next start when producing a potent turn of foot to see off his rivals at Bangor-On-Dee with a bit in hand, a run for which he was only given a 3lb rise in the handicap.

In this conditional and amateur jockey race, the services of Tristan Durrell is a big plus, and you’d be shocked if there wasn’t more to come from this five-year-old. Take the 4/1 to complete the Lucky 15.
