Who Is Rachael Blackmore Riding In The 2025 Grand National?

Rachael Blackmore Grand National

Rachael Blackmore is one of the biggest names in the world of jumps racing and there will be plenty of punters backing her ride in this year’s Grand National at Aintree.

Given the profile of the race, the wider sports community will be looking out for the likes of Blackmore and which horse she will ride in the showpiece race of the jumps season.

The 2025 Grand National takes place at Aintree Racecourse on Saturday 5th April and it looks set to be one of the most competitive renewals in recent years.

Blackmore is the most recognisable jockey in the sport and the ‘once-a-year’ punters who enjoy a flutter on the Grand National will be keen to side with her.

If nothing else, whichever horse Rachael Blackmore chooses to ride in the 2025 Grand National will almost certainly shorten in the sports betting markets for the race.

Looking at the latest Grand National weights and probably runners, Henry de Bromhead is likely to have two in the race – Minella Indo and Senior Chief.

At the time of writing, Blackmore is yet to make her decision but I’d make the former a strong favourite given the former Cheltenham Gold Cup winner finished third last year.

MINELLA INDO

Long touted as a possible Aintree Grand National type, Minella Indo gave Blackmore a fantastic spin last year as he finished third – just eight lengths behind I Am Maximus.

He’s another year older and there has been just one 12-yo winner in the last 28 renewals of the race but few have been as classy as Minella Indo.

He ran off levels with last year’s winner but has a 9lbs swing in his favour at the weights and 40/1 could turn out to be a huge price if Rachael Blackmore sticks with him.

Minella Indo ran a decent race over fences at Punchestown in October but was off the track until a hurdles prep run in February and he disappointed that day.

However, he was given an easy enough time of things once out of contention and you’d imagine that run will have blown the cobwebs away and he’ll be primed for Aintree.

Given his effort over the Grand National fences last term, he’s one to consider for the 2025 race and Rachael Blackmore in the saddle will make him a popular pick with punters.

Has Rachael Blackmore Ever Won The Grand National?

Rachael Blackmore made history in 2021 as she became the first female rider to win the Aintree Grand National with victory on Minella Times.

Just one month after finishing as the leading rider at the Cheltenham Festival, racing’s golden girl added a Grand National triumph to her glittering list of accolades.

Speaking to the Racing Post in 2023, Blackmore paid tribute to Minella Times following his retirement – stating that he provided her with her “best day in racing”.

“He’s such a special horse for me. He gave me the best day in racing I’ve had, there’s a lot of hot competition for that but it was such an incredible day. You have so much gratitude for a horse when they give you something like he did.”

“He was such a fabulous jumper and he jumped so well from fence to fence on the day. Luck was definitely on our side but he’s such an intelligent horse and it was such an enjoyable race to ride in.”

Punters will be hoping to see Rachael Blackmore with another Grand National success in the 2025 renewal.
