Fairyhouse Tips: Irish Grand National Betting Preview & Prediction (2025)

Irish Grand National tips

The 2025 Irish Grand National is always one of the spectacles of the jumps season in Ireland and Easter Monday’s feature race should be an incredibly competitive renewal once again.

All eyes will be on Fairyhouse Racecourse for the big race, with a total prize pot of €270,000 on offer and the grandstands will be packed for the course’s showpiece jumps fixture.

Irish Grand National 2025

After two successive Saturday Grand Nationals at Aintree and Ayr, it’s now the turn of the traditional Easter Monday offering from Ireland.

Haiti Couleurs and Johnnywho not only lead a strong British challenge in the Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse, but they also lead the betting at odds of 5/1 and 10/1 respectively.

Haiti Couleurs is understandably the horse racing betting favourite for the Easter marathon after blitzing his rivals in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

The Rebecca Curtis-trained runner has gone up 6lbs in the handicap and should be able to shoulder that over the 3m5f trip.

The Irish Grand National has been kind towards novices in recent years and Haiti Couleurs holds every chance of making it four from five victories in chases.

Johnnywho was very well supported for the Kim Muir Challenge Cup at the Cheltenham Festival, but unfortunately was chinned on the line by Daily Present.

The eight-year-old, trained by Jonjo and AJ O’Neill and owned by JP McManus, has had five chase starts this season including a third behind The Jukebox Man at Newbury in November, and hasn’t finished out of the first three all season.

Home trainer Gavin Cromwell is blessed with a plethora of staying chasers in his yard, and his runner Now Is The Hour appears to hold an outstanding chance in the Monday feature.

The eight-year-old would have since finished second at the very least to Haiti Couleurs in the National Hunt Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, had he not fallen two out, and has had a decent break since.

Now Is The Hour is now 4lb better off with Haiti Couleurs so he has to come into calculations. However, stable jockey Keith Donoghue has chosen Bioluminescence and that could be a tip in itself.

Quai De Bourbon is one of two entries for Willie Mullins and we have yet to see the best of him over fences. He was running a big race when he was brought down in the Grade 1 Mildmay Novices Chase at Aintree and he could be better than his mark of 148.

Irish trainer Gordon Elliott has seven declared in the race (with one reserve) and Search For Glory could be the pick of his. He looks tailor-made for a race like the Irish Grand National and Elliott is seeking his second win in the race after General Principle in 2018.

Tom Gibney’s KINTURK KALANISI (NAP) has reportedly had this race on the radar since running well in a long-distance handicap hurdle at Fairyhouse twelve months ago.

The seven-year-old has progressed very nicely with each of his four runs over fences this term, and he certainly would have been involved in the finish but for a mishap two out, in the Leinster National at Naas last time.

Two outsiders that merit consideration are Duffle Coat who unseated early at Aintree, plus Ulster National winner Dunboyne.

Suggested bet: Kinturk Kalanisi (E/W, 12/1)
