Curragh Horse Racing Tips: Irish Oaks Predictions (2025)

Irish Oaks

A look ahead to the best of the action at the Curragh this weekend, with tips and predictions on the biggest races across the two day meeting.

This year’s Irish Oaks Weekend takes place on July 19 & 20. The feature race is the Irish Oaks, open to three-year-old fillies and run over one mile and four furlongs. Saturday also includes two Group 2 contests.

The Group 2 Romanised Minstrel Stakes headlines Sunday’s eight-race card, which also includes the Group 3 Meadow Court Stakes.

Curragh Tips Today

2.35pm Railway Stakes (Group 3)

Queen Mary winner TRUE LOVE should be able to brush aside her three rivals in this small, but select, field of four runners.

The No Nay Never-filly won with some authority over the five furlong trip at Royal Ascot, and this quick return to six furlongs should pose her no issues.

3.05pm Sapphire Stakes (Group 2)

Temple Stakes score MGHEERA (NAP) can continue her rise through the ranks by taking the five furlong Sapphire Stakes.

Formerly trained in France by Mme Manon Scandella-Lacaille, the mare hasn’t looked back since her switch to Ed Walkers’ yard in April.

She finished strongly to land the Prix de Saint-Georges (Group 3) at Longchamp on May 11, then a fortnight later went to Haydock and took the Temple Stakes.

The mare is very quick and Ryan Moore will be yet another positive for horse racing punters on the afternoon.

3.40pm – Irish Oaks (Group 1)

MINNIE HAUK, who got the better of her stable companion Whirl to win the Oaks at Epsom, faces just six rivals when she aims to double up in this Irish version at the Curragh.

The Frankel filly, who had won a trial at Chester prior to taking Classic glory, can easily account for the opposition today and is a very strong bet for win purposes.

Those wishing to play the forecast may wish to side with Subsonic, who actually finished just half a length behind the favourite in their opening maiden.

4.15pm – Curragh Cup (Group 2)

The Joseph O’Brien-trained LEINSTER has been putting in solid performances all season, and can go close again over this 1m6f Cup trip.

Fourth in both the Chester Cup and the Ascot Stakes, this drop back in distance looks like a shrewd move from his trainer, and at odds of around 16/1 in our horse racing betting, he’s certainly an each-way play.

Joseph O’Brien is also represented by Al Riffa and Uxmal in this race, with a combination exacta and trifecta advised.

Some of these stayers are even worth a look in our Cheltenham betting for 2026.

Curragh Tips Tomorrow

2.30pm Court Stakes (Group 3)

The Exors of the late H H Aga Khan still continue to have successes all around Europe, and their filly AZADA can put her best hoof forward in this Group 3 affair.

Already proven at Listed level, this race will be a lot easier to win than the Lanwades Stud Stakes, that she entered in May. Likely to be a popular pick for bet calculators this weekend, Azada has leading claims.
