ITV Racing Tips: Best Bets From Carlisle, Beverley And Chester

A focus on the televised ITV races, with William Hill News tipster Steve Mullington bringing you his thoughts on every race broadcast on the channel this Saturday.

ITV cameras are set up at Beverley and Chester this weekend, and also at Carlisle for the postponed Haydock races from last weekend that needed to be transferred elsewhere. While there are no real prestigious races on today, it’s still a fantastic day of action.

13:30 Carlisle – 1m3f Handicap 

Trained by William Haggas, OPPORTUNITY currently heads our horse racing betting at odds of 7/4. He caught the eye on his seasonal reappearance at Ascot where he stayed on strongly from the back.

His beating of Rahiebb at Haydock last summer now reads extremely well.

13:45 Beverley – 1m2f Handicap 

Heading the weights is URBAN GLIMPSE for trainer Andrew Balding. Although he carries top-weight, he possesses a strong engine and is the highest-rated runner in the field on a mark of 85.

In theory, he should outstay his rivals today.

14:00 Carlisle – 6f Handicap 

Veteran performer JORDAN ELECTRICS can benefit from the switch of this race from Haydock to Carlisle.

He boasts an unbeaten record at Carlisle and is running off his lowest handicap rating since 2024. At odds of around 12/1, he holds a solid each-way chance under Callum Rodriguez.

14:15 Beverley – 5f Hilary Needler Trophy

KODI BEAR LIGHT (NAP) showed the benefits of her initial racecourse debut by showing blazing speed to make all and win at Thirsk a fortnight ago.

I’m confident she’ll blast out in front again today and will stay there – she is my NAPS table selection for today.

14:33 Carlisle – 5f Achilles Stakes

Sitting at 4/1 in our sports betting, WASHINGTON HEIGHTS is a major threat dropping down in grade.

Kevin Ryan’s charge ran a decent race in last season’s Abbaye despite a terrible draw and is actually a course and distance winner here at Carlisle. Everything appears to be in his favour on Saturday.

14:48 Beverley  – 5f Two Year Old Trophy

THE DANCING PIRATE can make significant strides on his second racecourse appearance under P J McDonald.

The Blackbeard-colt finished a highly respectable fourth on quick ground at Newmarket and can kick on again for the experience.

15:10 Carlisle – 1m3f Pinnacle Stakes (Group 3)

Trained by David O’Meara, ESTRANGE (NB) stands head and shoulders above these on pure class alone. She won this exact race 12 months ago at Haydock Park and can do so again at this temporary location.

If you manage to get an even money, you’ll have done well.

15:30 Chester – 7f Handicap

As we all know ROMAN DRAGON practically owns the Roodee. The Chester legend has run at the track over 20 times and has won a staggering 8 times around these tight turns.

How apt would it be to record win number 9 on what is “Roman Day” at Chester racecourse. Therefore, he’s an each-way play all day long.

15:45 Carlisle – 1m Silver Bowl Handicap

PRINCLING was highly impressive on his seasonal reappearance 34 days ago, winning a Wetherby novice stakes with consummate ease on quick ground.

I was there that day and put him straight into my notebook for when he makes his handicap debut. Well the day has finally arrived and he looks a decent bet for win purposes.
