ITV Racing Tips On Epsom Oaks Day: Race-By-Race Predictions & Best Bets
The ITV Racing cameras are at Epsom Races over the course of Friday and Saturday, and on the opening afternoon they will be showing the first six races live.
Epsom Tips – ITV Racing Oaks Day:
- 1.30pm – Riley Rocks
- 2.05pm – Ardad Steve (NB)
- 2.40pm – Skukuza
- 3.15pm – Spoken Truth
- 4.00pm – Amelia Earhart (NAP)
- 4.40pm – Asmen Warrior
Our horse racing expert Steven Mullington takes a look at all of the scheduled TV races – and he has a leading fancy that will be popular on NAPs table picks this Friday.
1.30 – 5f Dash Handicap
RILEY ROCKS looks like a fantastic each-way shout here in the Dash. Despite a recent underwhelming effort at six furlongs, this horse won back-to-back five furlong races earlier in the season and ran a cracking race at Chester.
Returning to a straight five furlong dash plays right into his strengths.
2.05 – 6f Woodcote Stakes
Not actually named after myself, ARDAD STEVE (NB) can play a prominent part in the Woodcote.
Denied a clear run at Yarmouth when finishing a solid fourth, trainer Eve Johnson Houghton took this race in 2023 and regularly targets the contest. At around 12/1, “Steve” is a decent each-way snip.
2.40 – 1m½f Diomed Stakes (Group 3)
Ryan Moore is an intriguing booking here aboard SKUKUZA, though the horse needs to find a bit more on his most recent form.
The five-year-old, who has enjoyed a couple of high profiles victories at the Curragh before now, could easily be the surprise package in this field and is worth an each-way nibble.
3.15 – 1m2f Handicap
Arc winning jockey Luke Morris and David O’Meara team up with the rather interesting five-year-old SPOKEN TRUTH.
O’Meara is a master at unlocking some marked improvement with a stable switcher, and this son of Frankel ran an eye-catching race on his debut for the yard.
He clearly handles big fields well and is certainly on my each-way radar at the foot of the handicap.
4.00 – 1m4f Epsom Oaks (Group 1)
AMELIA EARHART (NAP) cemented her Classic credentials by comfortably winning the Listed Cheshire Oaks by two lengths.
Her proven soft-ground performances give her a major edge and being sired by Camelot, the step up to 1m4f trip at Epsom looks completely ideal.
She is also proving to be a popular pick with punters and she’s my clear pick in my runner-by-runner Epsom Oaks preview.
4.40 – 1m½f Handicap
Connections of ASMEN WARRIOR are reaching for the first-time blinkers here, to give the four-year-old the tactical edge needed to finally break his handicap duck.
The continual bridesmaid has finished runner-up in five of his last seven outings, with his last effort at Windsor being his career best.
As far as each-way punts go, he’s as solid as they come and can be played confidently in our sports betting markets.
