Who Wins The William Hill Grand National Trial? A Preview Of Saturday’s Racing On ITV

The William Hill Grand National Trial at Haydock Park, due to be aired live on ITV at 3.15pm, is more than a race – it’s the final chance to qualify for the William Hill Half A Mill.

£500,000 awaits the connections of any horse that can complete a famous trial and the Grand National double in the same season, and we have both those races priced up for our customers.

The ITV cameras will also be at Ascot and Wincanton too, bringing avid horse racing viewers a great afternoon of sport.

1.15 Ascot – 2m3½f Novices’ Hurdle

The two Ben’s can do no wrong this season, and they team up here with MONDOUI’BOY who was a last time out winner at Ludlow.

The six-year-old has speculative entries in both the Turners and Albert Bartlett Hurdles at The Festival, so make sure you grab the 50/1 odds that are available in our horse racing betting now if you fancy this horse to win today and at Cheltenham.

1.35 Wincanton – 2m Kingwell Hurdle (Grade 2)

Hughie Morrison’s popular seven-year-old SECRET SQUIRREL has been out of action since a fall at Newbury 12 months ago, but is reported to be in tip-top health for his return.

The five-time winner looks well overpriced at 10/1 in our sports betting, given his win to run strike rate.

1.50 Ascot – 3m Reynoldstown Novices’ Chase (Grade 2)

Course and distance scorer THE JUKEBOX KID can oblige again for Pauling and Jones in this feature novices’ event.

The 137-rated chaser is a horse on the up, and another bold show is expected.

2.05 Haydock – 3m½f Rendlesham Hurdle (Grade 2)

KABRAL DU MATHAN hosed up here in November, then went on to Cheltenham and dominated the Relkeel Hurdle.

Only a below-par performance can scupper another victory in front of the ITV cameras on Saturday afternoon.

2.25 Ascot – 2m3½f Handicap Hurdle

Bottom weight MOVEIT LIKE MINNIE is well worth an each-way flutter at the foot of the handicap.

A running on third at this venue a month ago, the seven-time winner can take advantage of his lenient mark.

2.40 Haydock – 3m½f Prestige Novices’ Hurdle (Grade 2)

LEGENDARY LUKE has barely put a hoof wrong for the Snowden team and can give his syndicate members another grand day out at Haydock Park.

He steps up to three miles today, but he won his debut PTP over the same trip so there will be no issues there.

3.00 Ascot – 3m Swinley Handicap Chase

Tom Lacey’s NOCTE VOLATUS knows what it takes to get the job done, and the eleven-year-old has been going well this winter.

A winner of his last two chases, I cannot see him finishing out of the frame in this three miler.

3.15 Haydock – 3m4½f William Hill Half A Mill Grand National Trial Handicap Chase

The Russell/Scudamore stable have had very little to celebrate this season, with many of their runners underperforming, but there may be a beacon of light shining for them this weekend with MYRETOWN – a view shared by William Hill ambassador Barry Geraghty.

Last season’s Ultima winner bounced back from an early season fall to put in a solid effort behind Imperial Saint in the Peter Marsh Chase, and any repeat of that would see him go close in the ITV racing feature.

Myretown is actually entered for the Grand National unlike many of his rivals here, and the yard certainly know how to ready a horse for the big one in April.

3.35 Ascot – 2m5f Ascot Chase

Victory in the Ascot Chase on Saturday would provide JONBON (NAP) with his 12th Grade 1 over fences, and it’s hard to see who could possibly lower his colours in the contest? Edwardstone can chase him home for the forecast.
