ITV Racing Tips – Sunday 18th January 2026

Fence On Horse Racing Track

Steve Mullington casts his expert eye over the televised races at Windsor, Fakenham and Thurles on ITV this Sunday.

Armchair punters will be in their element on Sunday afternoon, with an additional days horse racing coverage being shown on ITV.

Nine live races will be shown in all from Windsor, Fakenham and Thurles.

1.20 Windsor – Hampton Novices’ Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+)

After witnessing MOON ROCKET (NAP) being narrowly denied at Doncaster a month ago, it would be foolish of me to desert him. The six-year-old is a tough competitor and he should go close in this Grade 2.

1.50 Windsor – 2m Great Park Handicap Chase (Class 2) (5yo+)

NELLS SON may well be a veteran but he holds a live chance off top weight in this two mile contest.

The eight-time career winner ran with promise at Kelso last time and can go well off a chase rating of 141.

2.05 Fakenham – 2m4f Mares’ Handicap Hurdle (4yo+ 0-125)

Nicky Martin’s APPLES MOON has won her last two events with an element of ease and can bring up her hat-trick here.

With many of these struggling to buy a win this season, this seven-year-old is the logical pick.

2.15 Thurles – 2m5f Mares Novice Chase (Grade 2) (5yo+)

JADE DE GRUGY should get the verdict here at the expense of Tareze. Both mares are somewhat ahead of their rivals in this contest.

2.25 Windsor – 3m Handicap Hurdle (Class 2) (4yo+)

GREEN BOOK is a much better horse than he showed at Sandown, where he was pulled up, and I shall forgive him that effort.

I will be bold enough to say that the former Chester Plate winner can make the frame on this occasion at large odds in our horse racing betting.

2.40 Fakenham – 2m5f Mares’ Handicap Chase

Course and distance scorer SAINTE DOCTOR was last seen finishing third at Aintree back in spring and is on a vastly superior rating to her adversaries here.

The nine-time winning daughter of Doctor Dino can bring home the spoils.

3.00 Windsor – 2m6f Fleur de Lys Chase (5yo+)

HANDSTANDS has entries for both the Ryanair Chase and Gold Cup at the Cheltenham Festival and a victory here would strengthen his credentials for both events.

A  recent wind-op in December after his Betfair disappointment, should hopefully put him back on the winning trail.

3.20 Thurles – 2m4½f Horse & Jockey Hotel Chase (Grade 2) (6yo+)

He may be the oldest horse in the line-up, but Willie Mullins’ APRRECIATE IT looks the most likely winner of this Grade 2 on Sunday.

The veteran took this race twelve months ago and can do so again.

3.35 Windsor – 3m4½f Stayers Handicap Chase (5yo+ 0-125)

JACKS PARROT stays longer than the mother-in-law and has totally the right profile for a race of this nature.

Third to Grand Geste in the Tommy Whittle, that recent form is the best on show in this field of 17, and he has a strong each-way shout in our sports betting.
