Jane Mangan’s William Hill blog: Go Big Or Go Home, literally!

Cork, Saturday

I like Go Big Or Go Home in the fillies’ maiden (1.15pm) for Paddy Twomey. She had two runs last year for Bryan Smart and having seen her as a yearling, I’ve always thought she would develop into a decent sort. Being a half-sister to Battaash means she was always going to be better at three and I expect her to take the beating in this contest.

In the Listed Cork Stakes (3.30pm), I’m keen on You Send Me. She won her maiden over seven furlongs at the course last year and she also ran really well in a Group 3 at Leopardstown. She wasn’t disgraced behind Tahiyra in the Irish Guineas as well and on her first run since, I think she’ll slow her class.

Cork, Sunday

In the Listed handicap hurdle (4.05pm), I’ll be backing Any Road. He was a winner at Clonmel on really testing ground in November over two miles and he looks well-treated on his close fourth to Answer To Kayf at Naas in February. That rival obviously ran a belter in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham and Any Road’s run behind him looks the standout piece of form here.

Fairyhouse, Sunday

The Honeysuckle Mares’ Novice Hurdle (2.35pm) looks a cracker and the one I’ve come down on is Jessica Harrington’s Jetara. I think after her very good run at Leopardstown at the Dublin Racing Festival, connections made the decision to bypass Cheltenham with this race in mind. I think that might pay dividends as she’s proven on bad ground and has already beaten many of these rivals before. Her run behind the boys last time was very good and she can take this back against her own sex.

The WillowWarm Gold Cup (4.55pm) is a race I’ll be watching closely with my Dad’s Spillane’s Tower a leading contender. It’s round three against Blood Destiny with the score at 1-1 and I think this son of Walk In The Park will get the better of him here over 2m4f on testing ground. Those should be his optimum conditions and I know they skipped Cheltenham in order to target this race which will hopefully prove the right decision. Willie Mullins might have dominated this race in recent years having won the last five renewals, but I’m hoping the streak ends this year!
