Jane Mangan’s William Hill blog: On Fire Cobden can grab another winner

Sandown, Saturday

Hopefully the top-weight Fire Flyer can win the EBF Final (1.50pm). He’s two from three over hurdles with the only blemish coming when behind Gideigh Park, a horse I fancy at Cheltenham. He’s rated 127 but I think he’s a bit better than that and I think he can defy a big weight in this for the in-form and title chasing Harry Cobden.

I like the look of Faivoir in the Imperial Cup (2.25pm) at Sandown. I respect the fact that Dan Skelton is so good at targeting these big handicaps and will likely have had this race in mind for quite a while for last year’s County Hurdle winner. I thought he ran well behind Iberico Lord last time and can run a big race here.

Gowran Park, Saturday

It’s unusual for me to tip a bumper horse but Good N’ Kind is one I’ve heard plenty about after he won a Point-to-Point at Dromahane. This bumper has been won by the likes of Bob Olinger and Journey With Me, both of whom wore these colours for Henry De Bromhead. He could be quite smart and one to stick in the notebook.

Naas, Sunday

Mirazur West should take some pegging back in the Kingsfurze Novice Hurdle (1.42pm). He’s a full-brother to Ferny Hollow and he hasn’t done much wrong so far in his career. I was impressed with him last time at Fairyhouse and I have a feeling this could be a pretty good horse. It’s a competitive race but I think he might be a bit too good for his rivals and can take this onto bigger and better things.

My fancy for the Leinster National (4.37pm) is Minella Cocooner. It might be an unoriginal choice but he’s a Grade 1 winner over hurdles and I think he might be quite well in here off 148. He’s been running against serious opposition this season such as Fact To File, and this looks much calmer waters. There are some exposed handicappers in here and he might just be a bit more progressive than them.
