Kevin Stott’s William Hill blog: A good book of rides on Week One of the Racing League

| BY News Team

I’m really looking forward to the Racing League this year and it’s great William Hill are involved again. It’s a great initiative and I think this year’s format is a great improvement which will hopefully make things interesting over the six weeks.

I’m riding for Team Scotland and I should have some nice rides to look forward to, beginning with week one at Doncaster.

Doncaster, Thursday

I start off Doncaster with Mostawaa in the William Hill Extra Place Races Racing League R1 (5:40pm). He’s a front runner and has run well at the track before, so we have high hopes he will bounce back from his last two runs.

Machito will look to go one better than he did at Catterick and finally get that win in the seven-furlong contest (6.40pm). He wasn’t beaten far last time, and a straight track may help him here. He was second here over five furlongs on his debut also, so I think he has plenty of potential to break his maiden here.

Sound Of Iona has been on super form in 2022 and loves it here at Doncaster. She runs in the six furlong race (7:10) and despite a tough mark she’s well in herself and I think she’ll run very well as long as she comes out the stalls well.

Geremia (8.10pm) was only just behind me on Forza Orta at York on his penultimate run over this trip and that was a great run. Dropping down to 12 furlongs should help his case as he looks to get his first win of the season. I’d like to think he’ll go well.

My final ride on week one is Annandale in the 1m2f race (8.40pm). Unfortunately, he’s been out of form recently and his odds reflect that. The drop back in trip to 10 furlongs will be interesting and you can never count him out as he’s a decent horse on his day.
