Kevin Stott’s William Hill blog: Scottish Summit deserves everything to fall right for him

William Hill ambassador previews his rides at Redcar on Saturday, including Bullace in the Listed Guisborough Stakes.

Redcar – Saturday

Bullace, Guisborough Stakes (4:10pm)

I think the key to this race is that there’s a lot of speed in it, as Azano and Safe Voyage both like to go forward. I’m not sure what the ground will be like, I suppose it depends if we get all the rain that they’re talking about.

My horse has done his winning on the all-weather and at Newmarket on good-firm ground, but he has run really well to be only beaten a length in soft ground too, so he looks pretty versatile ground-wise. It looks a good move to drop him back to 7 furlongs.

Scottish Summit, Cl2 Handicap (4:45pm)

Scottish Summit ran a cracker last time at Doncaster. I probably hit the front a bit too early on him, but I felt the pace collapsed there and I had to go. He’s a bit of a tricky horse who doesn’t like being in front too long, so everything has to fall into place for him to win.

He’s obviously in a good place at the moment and Geoff [Harker] said he’s come out of the Donny race well. It’s a plus that he has course form and I think he has a good chance.

Bluetech, Cl5 Handicap (5:15pm)

I finished second on him at Beverley in August, and he was a bit green that day, even though it was his sixth run. I actually hit the front on him and he just stopped on me. I thought he’d run really well the next time at Newcastle and for whatever reason, it just didn’t happen for him. I was on him again back at Beverley last time when they just didn’t go quick enough for him. I told John [Davies] to run him at Redcar where there’s a big, long straight which will hopefully suit.

I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do down this long straight. I think he is handicapped to win and hopefully this will be the day.

Stars In The Night, Cl4 Handicap (5:50pm)

She might have been a bit out of her depth in Listed company at Ayr last time, but the owners were keen to see if we could get a bit of black type.

She looks versatile ground-wise and again there looks a lot of pace in this race which will probably suit her. She’s a very easy filly to ride, you can make the running on her or sit handy, she is happy wherever you position her. Hopefully now she’s back down into handicaps she can be competitive.
