Kevin Stott’s William Hill Blog: A Marvellous final day of Royal Ascot

William Hill ambassador Kevin Stott gives his thoughts on his three rides on the final day of Royal Ascot.

Royal Ascot, Saturday

First up on the final day of Royal Ascot is La Guardia in the seven-furlong Chesham (2.30pm). She was an impressive winner at Goodwood over a sharp six furlongs last time, and she’ll have to prove that she can handle seven furlongs here. The ground won’t be an issue for her, as she’s gone really well on good and good to firm before. If she stays, she has a massive chance.

Let’s hope we can start Day Five on the right foot!

Second is Olivia Maralda in the seven-furlong Group 3 Jersey Stakes (3.05pm). She also should have a huge chance as she won so impressively at Epsom last time. In that race she showed a great attitude and turn of foot – she was beautifully relaxed in running too. I’m hoping for a similar performance today.

She’s a talented filly, and she’s not far away from the top of the ratings in this. Seven furlongs is her optimum distance, and I’m expecting a massive race.

Last of all is Tis Marvellous in the Wokingham (5.00pm). I’ve actually won on him at Ascot before, in the Shergar Cup Dash, so I know him well. He’ll love the ground and he was second in this race a couple of years ago too. He’s got a big each-way price, but I think he can outrun his odds.
