Kevin Stott’s William Hill blog: Beverley tailormade for Arecibo

Beverley, Saturday

I start my rides at Beverley with Tangled in the seven-furlong handicap (1.30pm). The first time visor could be a difference here as he’s been running well without winning this season but had great course form and is off a really dangerous mark. A wide draw doesn’t bother me too much as he is ridden with cover and likes to pass horses. We’ll need some luck in running but he’s not without a chance.

I’m in the King Power Racing colours aboard Kitsune Power in the Silver Cup (2.05pm) He’s been a model of consistency and continues to improve with each run. He looks straight forward and a small field should really suit him. It’s my first ride for Roger Varian, so I’m hoping we can start off with a winner.

In the William Hill Beverley Bullet (2.40pm), I ride Arecibo. He loves a fast pace to aim at and while he’s yet to run here, he has great form at stiff five furlong tracks, so this could be absolutely tailormade for him. He needs cover early so stall eight should be ideal and we are next to the favourite, Tis Marvellous, so hopefully we can get a lead off him through the race.

It’s always an awesome race to ride in, it’s fast and furious! It’s great to have some really talented sprinters running at Beverley.

Van Gerwen is my ride in the Div I of the five-furlong handicap (3.10pm). He has been running well lately and we have the ideal draw in stall three. He likes to be right up there with the pace so I’m hopeful he can be there or thereabouts.

I ride Nibras Again in Div II of the five-furlong handicap (3.45pm). He hasn’t won for nearly two years but has gone close on several occasions including over course and distance last time. He deserves to win again but seems to be bumping into one or two younger and in form horses lately.

In the fillies’ novice stakes (4.20pm), I’m on Natacata, who is a beautifully bred daughter of Kitten’s Joy. Most of our rivals have had a run and so experience may be an advantage to the others, but we are well drawn in three and hopefully we can run an encouraging race on debut.

We finish the day with Silent Monarch in the seven-furlong maiden (4.54pm). She’s a very well bred daughter of No Nay Never, though she’s the only debutant of the field. George Boughey has had an amazing season and his horses can certainly win, if good enough, on debut. I’m really looking forward to riding her. Drying ground would be a bonus.
