Longchamp Tips: Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Prediction & Best Bets On Sunday
The Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe is broadcast live to more than 50 countries, with over 60,000 spectators attending over the course of the weekend and around 35,000 fans filling the grandstands on Arc Day alone.
Several other group races grace the card on Sunday, and our horse racing expert Steven Mullington brings you a sporting chance in all of them, including the Arc itself.
12.31pm – 1m Prix Marcel Boussac (Group 1, 2yo Fillies)
Bred perfectly to relish a demanding mile on turf, GREEN EMPRESS stands out as the class act of the field in the Group 1 Sunday opener.
With form figures of 2212 from her four career starts, Joseph O’Brien’s filly can convert that Curragh form over to Paris.
1.09pm – 7f Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (Group 1)
Christopher Head claim his colt AVEC TOI (NAP) is the best horse he has ever trained which is a ringing endorsement indeed.
A winner last time out in the Group 3 Prix La Rochette over 7f at ParisLongchamp, he showed brilliant courage to edge out André Fabre’s Imperial Strike and is the one to beat here.
1.47pm – 5f Prix de l’Abbaye (Group 1)
I have been following Jonathan Portman’s RUMSTAR all season long and believe he can run another blinder at the weekend.
Second in the King George Stakes at Goodwood and third in both the Nunthorpe and the Flying Five, he’s well worth an each-way play in our horse racing betting market.
3.05pm – 1m4f Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe (Group 1)
It would only be right that the last ever renewal of the Arc before geldings are allowed to compete, was won by a colt that will probably go on to become a great stallion. That horse of course is DARYZ (NB), who can chalk up back-to-back victories on Sunday afternoon.
After his recent course-and-distance stroll in the Group 2 Prix Foy, it really is difficult to see who could even hold a flame to him in this year’s renewal.
3.50pm – 1m2f Prix de l’Opera (Group 1, Fillies & Mares)
Connections of AVENTURE have deliberately bypassed a tough assignment in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe or the 1m4f Prix de Royallieu in order to keep her racing against her own sex.
That’s a good enough reason to me to make her my selection in this contest, at odds of around 11/8 in our sports betting.
She sets an incredibly high bar on ratings and has won an equivalent Group 1 race to this at Deauville already.
4.25pm – 7f Prix de la Foret (Group 1)
Trained locally by Francis-Henri Graffard, SAMANGAN is highly progressive three-year-old who can go well today.
The Aga Khan Stud colt took the Group 3 Prix Maurice de Gheest earlier this summer, and a repetition of that run would see the youngster go close here.
