Lucinda Russell’s William Hill blog: We want the rain to stop for Corach Rambler!

William Hill ambassador Lucinda Russell gives an update on her runners at Aintree’s Grand National meeting.

Aintree plans

We’re really pleased with Corach Rambler ahead of the Grand National. He’s been absolutely perfect since Cheltenham. My only worry is the weather. We wouldn’t want the ground too soft for him and the drier the ground the better, so we’re anxiously watching the weather!

The William Hill Aintree Bowl is a race we’ve always targeted with Ahoy Senor. We toyed with the idea of running him in a handicap but decided against it. He normally comes alive at this time of year, having won twice at this meeting. Even in this past week his coat has improved, he’s looking great and he’s in good form. We’re hopeful of another big run at the track.

We were delighted with Giovinco at Cheltenham. He ran a cracker there and he’s come out of the race really well ahead of the Mildmay Novices’ Chase. We’re just hoping he’s in as good form as he was at Cheltenham. What’s good is that he won’t really mind heavy going, so any further rain won’t be an issue to him.

Apple Away will probably run in the William Hill-sponsored handicap hurdle on Grand National day. She probably hasn’t progressed this season over fences as much as we’d hoped. She hasn’t really done a lot wrong at the same time, having bumped into the likes of Grey Dawning and Corbetts Cross this term. She disappointed at Cheltenham, and we think it won’t hurt her to run back over hurdles.
