Lucinda Russell’s William Hill blog: Walk On Quest my best chance of a weekend winner

William Hill ambassador Lucinda Russell previews her Saturday runners across Kelso, Doncaster and Newbury, as well as updating on Whistle Stop Tour’s chances at the Cheltenham Festival.
Saturday, Kelso
Our two runners in the 1.10pm look up against it, but it’s going to be interesting to see how El Elefante gets on in the Premier Chase (1.45pm). On form and figures she has lots to find with Grey Dawning and Iroko, but if one of them wasn’t to run their race, we could find ourselves picking up some nice prize money. She obviously acts around the track, which is a big positive, and hopefully she can do the same again.
Inox Allen looks to be up against it in the 2.20pm but I do think Bold Light can give a bold show. He won around the track in October and has been running pretty well since. The return to Kelso ought to suit and although the Skelton horse might be hard to beat, we hope he can run well.
Jet To Vegas is a really consistent performer and is probably overpriced in the Premier Novices’ Hurdle (2.55pm). He hasn’t been out of the first two in all of his starts and it’s going to be great to have Derek Fox back on board. The Mullins raider looks to be a smart type, but we think our runner is a little underestimated, and he can give a good account of himself.
Old Gregorian is going to find it hard to win the Morebattle (3.30pm), but we really do like the chances of Walk On Quest in the 4.39pm. He’s been in a fantastic vein of form and is really improving. He bids to land a four-timer here at a track he won at back in October, and I’d say he’s our best chance of a winner this weekend.
Saturday, Doncaster
Golden Point is an interesting runner for us at a big price in the Listed Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle (2.05pm). It’s obviously going to be a decent stamina test over the extended three miles, but that shouldn’t be an issue for her, where it might not quite suit some of the other mares in the race. Our girl is a big price, but she can definitely out run her odds.
Kingston James has been a great horse for Old Gold Racing and could have an each-way chance in the finale at Doncaster (5.07pm). We pitched him in against Potters Charm in October and he didn’t quite run up to that standard, but I was encouraged by his run at Wetherby in December and hope he can give the top two in the betting something to think about.
Latest on Cheltenham runners
Ahoy Senor and Derryhassen Paddy will go for a racecourse gallop at Kelso this weekend and that will hopefully see them get closer to being ready for the Cheltenham Festival. Their preps have gone well and they look to be two outside chances for us in two big Grade One races, the Gold Cup and Albert Bartlett.
Whistle Stop Tour seems to have been backed since the weights came out for the Ultima, and we’re really excited to be running him. He obviously ran with credit on Trials Day and that race has a strong record for producing future Festival winners. We’ve won the race twice with our great Corach Rambler, and this guy would be a little different in type. However, we think he could have a great chance, so fingers crossed we get there on the day.
