Newcastle Horse Racing Tips – Saturday 10th January 2026
With the weather once again playing havoc across the UK and Ireland, it’s back to the trusty all-weather surface at Newcastle Racecourse on Saturday for our William Hill tipster Steve Mullington.
Having tipped up several winners on the all-weather card at Southwell last weekend, Steve will be hoping for another profitable day at Newcastle on Saturday – scroll down for his selections on every race…
3.10pm – 1m2f Amateur Jockeys’ Handicap (Class 6) (4yo+ 0-60)
The jockeys are oh so important in races of this nature, which automatically leads me to the mount of Simon Walker who is aboard TIME TURNER.
The four-year-old has gradually been getting closer to the jam stick this term, and is a great ride for his veteran amateur rider.
3.47pm – 1m Handicap (Class 5) (4yo+ 0-70)
Course and distance winner SECOND FIDDLE (NAP) absolutely loves this venue and he should be in the mix once more today.
A winner of five races over a mile during the last few months of 2025, the seven-year-old is a solid bet for win purposes.
4.20pm – 1m Classified Stakes (Div I) (Class 6) (4yo+ 0-50)
I was always a fan of the now veteran performer CROWNTHORPE when he was with Richard Fahey, and he is still worth an each-way interest in our sports betting, even at the age of 11.
An 11-time career scorer, he is still showing some great form at this level.
4.50pm – 1m Classified Stakes (Div II) (Class 6) (4yo+ 0-50)
Division II can go the way of the Ian Williams-trained PINK SOCKS who arguably has the best jockey on his back with Billy Loughname in this one mile affair.
The mare can finally get her just rewards for her new owners at Diva Racing.
5.20pm – 1m Novice Stakes (Class 3) (4yo+)
Recent course and distance winner INSPIRED doesn’t really have much in the way of a credible opposition today, and can oblige as a favourite should do in this novice stakes.
If you can get any odds above even money in our horse racing betting, take them!
5.50pm – 7f Handicap (Class 6) (4yo+ 0-65)
I’m that old, I can still remember when TRAIS FLUORS was still trained by Andre Fabre and won the Group 3 Prix Paul de Moussac at Chantilly as a three-year-old.
Now a twelve-year-old sprinting grandee, he clocked up career victory number 13 here the other day and is well worth a follow up flutter.
6.20pm – 5f Handicap (Class 5) (3yo 0-75)
Quest Thoroughbreds have had some nice successes with Dylan Cunha, and KING OF CHAOS has a great shout in his first sprint handicap for the stable.
The booking of Cieren Fallon feels like a statement of intent too.
6.50pm – 6f Handicap (Div I) (Class 6) (4yo+ 0-55)
SPARTAN FIGHTER is mister consistency when it comes to bombing down the six-furlong course at Newcastle and he’s the logical choice in this division of the six furlong handicap.
His course and distance experience will count for plenty in Saturday’s penultimate race.
7.20pm – 6f Handicap (Div II) (Class 6) (4yo+ 0-55)
Elder statesman ATHOLLBLAIR BOY has finished right up there at the front in his last two visits to Gosforth Park, and I can’t see his age being any kind of barrier to his excellent chance in this sprint.
Partnered once again by his favourite female jockey, the thirteen-year-old can put it up to his younger rivals.
