Nick Luck’s Racing League blog: Bringiton in the final Racing League 

It is fair to say that the Racing League has inflicted some serious wounds on this column over the past few weeks, and the sight of Equality being chinned at Windsor was the cruellest emblem of its misfortune.

But, channelling the spirit of the Black Knight in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, ’Tis but a Scratch, and I am just about keeping my head for one last hurrah.  

Let’s start with a nice each way bet on VINDOLANDA at 18/1 in the opener (5.45pm). Although winless on the all-weather, she is very effective on it, including here. She wants at least this far, and her last two efforts can be upgraded or forgiven. A reproduction of her third here a year ago would be good enough to be right in the mix, and she looks perfectly well handicapped on the best of her form.  

BRINGITONBORIS can gain revenge at 15/2 on Menai Bridge and Galiac from their running here last time (6.45pm). We knew this horse was really attractively treated on his old form, but we weren’t sure he was in any form. That run was much more like it, however, and he should be able to build on that if not given quite so much to do.  

BUCKSHAW VILLAGE simply looks a massive price at 20/1 in the seven-furlong race (7.15pm). The race that he won at Lingfield is working out beautifully and a six-pound rise is perfectly fair. In addition, you would argue that he was simply returning to his two-year-old promise following a gelding operation. 

MICHAELA’S BOY gets the nod at 9/1 in the nursery (7.45pm). He took a good step in the right direction on his stable and nursery debut last time, and is with a past master at producing gradual improvement in horses that he inherits from other yards. The step up to a stiff six looks right on pedigree, and the front of the market looks a bit porous.
