Nick Luck’s William Hill blog: A hint of Mint on Sunday
ARAMINTA is my idea of the Blandford Stakes winner at the Curragh on Sunday (2.25pm) at 9/2. Brought along nicely by Henry Candy, she was most impressive in a Group 3 in France last time which is beginning to work out quite nicely. A truer pace and this stiffer track should suit better still, and connections mean business with the booking of Colin Keane.
ART POWER must surely be the play at 5/1 in the Flying Five (2.55pm). Although he’s not won at this level, at least three of his Curragh wins have produced a figure that would make him extremely competitive in most Group Ones. There were valid excuses for his last run and he should be right there with the good ones from a handy draw.
I don’t see too much mileage in opposing the Ballydoyle pair YLANG YLANG (10/11) (3.25pm) and CITY OF TROY (4/6) (4.00pm) in the big juvenile races. Both look out of the top drawer.
ELDAR ELDAROV, however, might be able to upset Ballydoyle in the Irish Leger (4.35pm) at 11/4. With Kyprios returning from a long absence and Emily Dickinson surely wanting softer ground to be at her best, last year’s Donny Leger hero has his perfect ground/trip for the first time this season. His Goodwood effort was pretty respectable in the circumstances and this looks the right race for him.
