It’s been another pleasing week with a double at Warwick from Lord Of Cheshire and Push The Button by seven and four lengths respectively. The yard continues in good form and we’re all very pleased with how the horses have been going.

Saturday, Huntington

I’m sending two runners to Huntingdon, the first of which is Shetland Tony in the two-mile handicap hurdle (2.13pm). He hasn’t run badly so far and he’ll get on fine with the drier ground. It’s not as good a race as Cheltenham was last time, so we’d expect him to do much better here. We were slightly disappointed with his run there as he’d won so well first time out this season, but the track at Huntingdon will suit him far better and he’ll be ridden by Finn Lambert, who claims a helpful five pounds, so he should do himself justice here.

In the bumper is Dirty Den (3.23pm). He’s a nice, young horse by Dragon Dancer who makes his racecourse debut here. He’s taken to his work very well, though, and shows us plenty, so I’d just like to see him do the same on the racecourse. He’ll learn a lot from this and will then, hopefully, progress onwards. He’s another for sale!

Saturday, Haydock

Gowel Road is our only runner at Haydock in the 3m½f Stayers’ Handicap Hurdle (2.20pm). He’s had a long time off, last running almost exactly a year ago, but he’s back and in very good order at home, so I hope he’ll be good enough. While he hasn’t been seen for some time, he’s been showing us all his usual good work and definitely looks like good value in the market at the moment. He’s only a seven-year-old and there’s plenty more to come from him yet.
