QEII Stakes betting tips: use your extra place to back these each-way plays

Each-way thieves will have an extra two places to play with for the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot on Champions Day, meaning there’s all the more reason to take on 5/2 favourite Roaring Lion on ground softer than ideal for the three-time Group 1 winner.

At the time of writing 15 runners have held their ground for the top-flight contest, but instead of the usual three places, William Hill are paying five and not just on the day of the race either – you can help yourself to the enhanced terms from 09:00 on Friday morning.

Every runner bar John Gosden’s QEII odds market leader is currently trading at an ‘each-way bet to nothing’, meaning that if you back them each-way (e.g £1 on the win and £1 on the place at 1/5 of the odds) and they place, you’ll get your entire stake back at the very least.

A finer incentive to back a big-price runner each-way against Roaring Lion you will not find. Scroll down for our pick of our Queen Elizabeth II Stakes betting tips best bets you can get an extra two places on a day ahead of the other bookies, only at William Hill.

Queen Elizabeth II Stakes betting tips: Three of the best each-way plays (with an extra two places)

Addeybb @ 13/2

William Haggas’ miler has already been nibbled in from QEII Stakes odds of 8/1 and given the likely going at Ascot there’s no need to call in Dick Tracy to work out why.

He bounded clear to win the Lincoln (soft) with ease on his first start of the campaign and followed up in impressive fashion in the Group 2 Bet365 Mile (good to soft) a month later.

Bamboozled by good-to-firm ground in the Group 1 Lockinge in May, he’s been off the track ever since and seems sure to resume his upward trajectory back on going with soft in the description.

Century Dream @ 16/1

Simon Crisford’s son of Cape Cross has proven an admirably consistent performer, finishing inside the first four in 13 of his 16 races, and the second of our Queen Elizabeth II Stakes betting tips can run into the first quartet past the post at sizeable odds. He’s finished fourth in Group 1s in two of his last three outings.

The four-year-old’s also a multiple winner on soft ground, including at Ascot earlier this season.

Hey Gaman @ 50/1

Superstar pilot Frankie Dettori is an eye-catching jockey booking for James Tate’s three-year-old, who hasn’t been a million miles away in Group 1s on either side of the English Channel this term.

A neck second in the French 2,000 Guineas at Longchamp in May, he finished third in the Group 2 Prix Daniel Wildenstein earlier this month on his first run after a break and that put him cherry ripe to outrun massive Champions Stakes odds for his each-way backers.

Remember, you can get five places instead of three on this race, only at William Hill.
