Royal Ascot Tips Today: Los Angeles Tops Day 2 Selections

Our tipster looks through every race on the card at Royal Ascot on Wednesday.
One day down, four to go – it’s Day 2 of the 2025 Royal Ascot meeting and thousands of punters will be heading to the Berkshire track to get stuck into today’s action.
It’s a competitive looking card, with no odds on favourites at the time of writing. Having said that, there is plenty of value in the horse racing betting markets if you can pick out a few winners.
Once again, I’ve looked through all seven races in this column, with a ‘best bet’ on Day 2 at Royal Ascot, as well as plenty of each way fancies at bigger prices. Fingers crossed I can hit the target with one or two of them.
2:30 Queen Mary Stakes – Harry’s Girl (E/W)
True Love was a big market mover following Gstaad’s dominant success in the Coventry Stakes on Tuesday but HARRY’S GIRL is the one I’ve landed on and she can run a big race for the Richard Hannon / Sean Levey combination.
The yard had a winner with Haatem on Day 1 while Rosallion was pipped on the line in the Queen Anne Stakes so hopefully Harry’s Girl can run well. Things didn’t go her way in a Listed race at York in May but she has a lofty reputation and is bred to be pacey.
3:05 Queen’s Vase – Pinhole (E/W)
PINHOLE has plenty to find on official ratings but his fourth in the Chester Vase looks strong enough now, with winner Lambourn and runner up Lazy Griff filling the same places in The Derby at Epsom. The step up to 1m6f could really suit this son of Frankel…
Colin Keane, now retained rider for Juddmonte, is riding brilliantly, avoiding trouble on Field Of Gold in the St James’s Palace Stakes while clinching places on 16/1 chance Nurburgring in the Ascot Stakes and 20/1 shot Samui in the Copper Horse Stakes.
3:40 Duke Of Cambridge Stakes – One Look (WIN)
A competitive renewal but I’m keen to take on Cinderella’s Dream and ONE LOOK may be the one to down the Godolphin runner. She is a pillar of consistency and she just seems to be improving with every run – and her performance the last day did not go unnoticed.
Second to the highly talented filly Porta Fortuna at the Curragh, that was perhaps the best run of her career. Paddy Twomey’s horse was in receipt of 3lbs but she ran a huge race and that should put her just right for a crack at Royal Ascot. I like her chances.
4:20 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes – Los Angeles (NAP)
Anmaat is an obvious danger but it is hard to abandon a horse like LOS ANGELES (NAP). He is so generous and he has a fantastic attitude, finding plenty out in front and he will be very difficult to beat. Ryan Moore, already on the board at Royal Ascot 2025, takes the ride.
The Aidan O’Brien runner is the market leader at this stage but Anmaat certainly seems the more stylish animal and it wouldn’t be a huge shock to see plenty of support for him. However, Los Angeles has won multiple Group Ones and he’s tough as old boots – he is my NAP of the Day.
5:00 Royal Hunt Cup – Tony Montana (E/W)
A really intriguing runner in the Royal Hunt Cup, TONY MONTANA drops back to 1m for the first time since making his debut in September 2022. On that day, he was a narrow second to a certain Bluestocking – and she went on to win last year’s Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe.
The straight mile at Ascot takes some getting and stamina won’t be a problem for this son of Kingman. He is related to five winners on the flat, including a Group Two winner, and Tony Montana could have scope in his official BHA mark of 99. Hopefully he will run a big race.
5:35 Kensington Palace Stakes – Kayhana (E/W)
Trained by William Hill ambassador Gavin Cromwell, KAYHANA can outrun her odds in the Kensington Palace Stakes. Another race held over the straight mile, she almost certainly stays further and you’d hope that she’ll get a quick pace to aim at.
Rainbows Edge is the obvious ‘Group horse in a handicap’ type and she may prove too strong but she has to give plenty of weight away and I’m hoping that Kayhana can give Amo Racing a winner on Day 2 at Royal Ascot.
6:10 Windsor Castle Stakes – Sovereign Spell (E/W)
SOVEREIGN SPELL is no outsider in my opinion and I’m hoping this Invincible Spirit colt can build on his debut run at Newmarket. He finished behind promising Godolphin horse Rising Power that day and he could be a smart enough type so that form may work out in time.
The third that day has won at Newbury since and Amo Racing will be hoping that Sovereign Spell can go close at a nice each way price. It is a competitive race with plenty of previous winners but Big Evs won this race as a maiden in 2023 and hopefully Sovereign Spell can follow in his footsteps.
