Royal Ascot Tips Today: Godolphin Runner Tops Day 5 Fancies

NAP of the Day on Day 3 Royal Ascot 2025

Our tipster looks through every race on the fifth and final day of Royal Ascot 2025, with a strong fancy as the ‘best bet’ on what looks a stellar Saturday card.

The final day of the meeting is here already and conditions are expected to be baking hot for racegoers at Ascot on Saturday. Punters have had a few fantastic days, with several handicap fancies winning and only one or two favourites disappointing so far this week.

Here, I cast my eye over all seven races on Day 5 at Royal Ascot 2025 – with my ‘best bet’ running in the opening race of the day while I’ve got a few big priced chances in the handicaps. Without further ado, let’s get stuck into my selections on Saturday…

2:30 Chesham Stakes – Treanmor (NAP)

Treanmor, Godolphin’s €2million Frankel colt, got off to a flyer at Newmarket just over a month ago and will be a popular pick amongst punters today.

Charlie Appleby’s juvenile was quickly installed as one of the favourites for the Coventry Stakes after landing the six-furlong novice stakes by four lengths, but the stable finally decided that the Chesham was the best option for him.

Treanmor is the first foal out of Loch Lein, who was second to the mighty St Mark’s Basilica at two-years-old. His breeding is certainly top notch and you would expect him to be making yet another contribution towards his lofty price tag in this Listed affair.

3:05 Hardwicke Stakes – Sunway (E/W)

On what is predicted to be the hottest day of the summer thus far, wouldn’t it be rather apt if the David Menuisier-trained Sunway was to bounce back to his best.

The four-year-old signed off his juvenile campaign with a valuable Group One triumph in the Criterium International over a mile at Saint-Cloud, and he has been campaigned highly since, unfortunately without winning again.

Last season he came to hand at the end of June with a superb close second to Los Angeles  in the Irish Derby, and he was only beaten under two lengths by Jan Brueghel in the St Leger.

With the sun on his back on Saturday, I can Oisin Murphy’s mount running a stormer at nice odds.

3:40 Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes – Elite Status (E/W)

Fourth in the Clipper Stakes at York’s Dante meeting, Karl Burke’s Elite Status can come on for the run and give Sheikh Mohammed Obaid Al Maktoum’s other runner – Inisherin, a much better test.

I dare say Deauville will be on the itinerary again for this Havan Grey-colt, and this six furlong Group One, can be the perfect stepping stone on the way to a tiny campaign in France.

4:20 Jersey Stakes – Marvelman (E/W)

Andrew Balding’s Marvelman emerged as a big threat to Cosmic Year at Newmarket last month, but was just held at bay by the Juddmonte-owned colt.

That effort was a nice return back on the turf for the three-year-old, after picking up a comfortable victory on the all-weather at the end of March.

This 106-rated youngster knows his job well for a young horse, and I will be surprised if he’s not in the thick of it again today under Oisin Murphy.

5:00 Wokingham Stakes – Korker (E/W)

Somewhat of a regular now in these large field Heritage Handicaps, Korker can give his supporters another top-notch effort in this feature handicap on the final day of the Royal meeting.

After a couple of indifferent efforts on the all-weather earlier this season, Karl Burke’s six-year-old appears to have regained his mojo back on the turf, putting up decent performances at both York at Hamilton.

Second in last year’s York Dash and third in the Ayr Gold Cup, Korker is far too big a price in our Royal Ascot odds, and should place at the very least.

5:35 Golden Gates Stakes – Ernst Blofeld (E/W)

Better known in the movie world as a Bond villain, this equine version could well turn out to be the punters friend, rather than a foe, in this 1m2f handicap.

The Gosden’s appear to have lessened their expectations about this three-year-old and dropped him from Listed to Heritage class, last time out.

Ernst Blofeld ran with plenty of gusto in Newbury’s London Gold Cup, and if he learns to settle a little better, he can be a contender at Royal Ascot in a very winnable race.

6:10 Queen Alexandra Stakes – Sober (WIN)

National Hunt trainers have had a great record in the Queen Alexandra down the years, which is hardly surprising given that the contest is a 2m5½f staying race.

Jumps supremo Willie Mullins, once again swaps his tweed for a top hat, and saddles Sober who looks like going off a shade of odds-on in our horse racing betting.

A two-time Group 2 winner in France, Mullins purchased the former Andre Fabre-trained runner at the Arqana Arc Sale last October, and quite frankly, he’s a miles better horse than the rest of the assembled field.

Willie’s in the bumper? Well almost. This is Willie’s in the Royal Ascot bumper!
