King Charles III Stakes History

The King Charles III Stakes is a prestigious Group 1 flat race held annually at Ascot Racecourse during Royal Ascot. In 2024, the race took place on Tuesday 18th June and covered a distance of 5 furlongs (1,006 meters) on turf. Open to horses aged three and older, it is renowned for attracting top sprinters from around the world.

The 2024 edition featured 17 runners, with Asfoora emerging victorious under jockey Oisin Murphy. Trained by Henry Dwyer, the Australian mare secured her first Group 1 win with a commanding performance, finishing ahead of Regional and Big Evs.

This triumph marked Australia’s sixth win in the race, underscoring its international appeal. The race’s £600,000 purse made it one of the most lucrative sprint races in Europe.

The King Charles III Stakes continues to be a highlight of Royal Ascot, showcasing the speed and agility of elite sprinters.
