Royal Ascot Tips: Leading Trainer Odds & Predictions (2025)

Copper Horse Stakes

Royal Ascot is Britain’s most valuable race meeting and plays host to the best Flat horses and trainers from Britain and Ireland, as well as drawing big-name runners from other countries including France, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and the US.

The battle to be Royal Ascot’s top trainer is always a competitive one, with the competition this year taking place between Tuesday 17th and Saturday 21st of June – though there are several Royal Ascot antepost tips live ahead of next month’s meeting.

Contender: Aidan O’Brien

Aidan O’Brien has long been a dominant force at Royal Ascot, winning the top trainer title 13 times during his star-studded career – including each of the last three years. The 2025 renewal could well be much of the same.

O’Brien generally excels at Royal Ascot with his talented crop of two-and three-year-olds, but the training maestro will also his fair share of older horses playing leading roles throughout the Royal meeting.

Plenty of O’Brien’s established stars will be well-supported in the Royal Ascot betting, and many could be primed to make the headlines in some of the biggest races of the mid-June festival. He will be a popular pick in our horse racing odds market.

Contender: John & Thady Gosden

In their first season in partnership in 2021, John and Thady Gosden were leading trainer at the Royal Meeting, an accolade that John Gosden had claimed twice before, in 2012 and 2020.

John and Thady have enjoyed many memorable days at Royal Ascot and Clarehaven has sent out the winner of the meeting’s feature event, the Gold Cup, four times, as well as winners of the Prince of Wales’s Stakes (x5), the St James’s Palace Stakes (x3) and the Coronation Stakes (x3). All horses were very well supported in our Royal Ascot odds.

On his own and in partnership with Thady, John Gosden has trained 64 winners at the Royal Meeting.

If anyone can fend off the Aidan O’Brien challenge this year, it’s the Gosden’s.

Contender: Charlie Appleby

Charlie Appleby celebrated his first Royal Ascot winner in 2015, when Space Age won the King George V Stakes, and he has registered a further 14 victories at the Royal meeting since then.

Appleby goes into Royal Ascot 2025 with a formidable bunch of horses, and with the right performances on the track, he may just upset the two main training powerhouses.

Contender: Karl Burke

Karl Burke came third in the leading trainer’s table last season, saddling two winners, a second and a third.

He currently has 17 horses engaged in races over the five days of the Royal meeting, so he has to be given an each-way chance of making a major impact this year, especially if his sprinters perform well.

Contender: Ralph Beckett

Arc winning-trainer Ralph Beckett finished fourth in last season’s Royal Ascot table, and sends out a team of 12 to the Royal meeting this year.

His numbers may not be big, but his horses are all very well fancied in some of the Group contests, so he may scoop some unlikely prizes.
