All eyes will be on The Knavesmire on Friday for the third and final day of the 2025 York Dante Festival and our horse racing writer has worked his way through the card on Day 3.

Check out the current horse racing betting markets for York with William Hill ahead of what should be yet another exhilarating day of action on the flat.

2.10pm – 5f Marygate Fillies’ Stakes (Listed Race)

There’s no greater sight than fast fillies bombing down the Knavesmire, and I’m hopeful that SAUCY JANE will come home the speediest of them all.

New young trainer Jack Morland has really hit the ground running this season, and his horses are performing very well at the present time. Saucy Jane was a pretty facile winner of her EBF Maiden at Beverley and the second placed horse that day has run another cracker since.

Danger: Harry’s Girl

2.42pm – 1m2½f Knights Solicitors Handicap

Tim Easterby’s AUSTRIAN THEORY has been well and truly been knocking on the door in recent times, and his excellent run at Chester last week gives him every chance of taking home the spoils here today.

The six-year-old will be an immediate York placepot pick for many players and he holds a massive each-way shout in our horse racing odds market.

Danger: Financer

3.13pm – 1m  Michael Seely Memorial Fillies’ Stakes (Listed)

Owner Nurlan Bizakov runs most of his horses in France where he enjoys plenty of success, so its always rather interesting when he bases one in the UK.

Roger Varian is Bisakov’s go to trainer on these shores and GULYA has shown early signs of being a top class filly. Second behind Whirl at Doncaster last season, she was narrowly denied at Ascot on her first run as a three-year-old. She can go one better however today.

Danger: Consecrated

3.45pm – 1m6f Yorkshire Cup Stakes (Group 2)

Yorkshire Cup top honours can go to John and Thady Gosden’s SWEET WILLIAM, who finished behind champion stayer Kyprios for the third time in his career when chasing him home in the British Champions Long Distance Cup at Ascot in October.

This race should be a little easier and a big run is expected by connections.

Danger: Rebel’s Romance.

4.15pm – 5f Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Handicap

Dylan Cunha’s JUST KING HIGH is an interesting each-way online betting play in a wide open Class 3 Handicap.

Running off just 9st 1lb in his first handicap after some closed season wind surgery, the three-year-old will be ridden by Tom Marquand which is a highly significant move.

Danger: Tuscan Point

4.55pm – 1m  EBF “Confined” Novice Stakes

Sea The Stars-filly SEA THE WONDER can get her career off to a flyer on Friday afternoon.

Purchased from the October Yearling Sale Book (Tattersalls) for £310,000, Ralph Beckett’s youngster should prove to be useful on her racecourse debut.

Danger: Point Of Contact

5.30pm – 7f Yorkshire Equine Practice Handicap

The last race of the Dante Festival and one of the most open looking, with the vote marginally going for an each-way flutter on MERSESIDE DIVA.

The five-year-old mare is an impressive 5/20 for the Barron’s and she ran well in defeat the other day at Wetherby.

Danger: Mums Tipple
