York Ebor Festival 2025: Antepost Tips

The four-day Ebor Festival held at York stages three Group 1 races as well as the prestigious Ebor Handicap that lends its name to the meeting.
Held at one of Britain’s finest tracks, on land known for more than 1,500 years as the Knavesmire, this York Racecourse feature meeting is very popular with punters and patrons alike.
Wednesday 20th August
Great Voltigeur Stakes (Group 2)
The chances are extremely high that Ralph Beckett will run Royal Ascot-winner AMILOC (5/1) here rather than in the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot at the end of July.
Leading the Aidan O’Brien charge will probably be SERIOUS CONTENDER (4/1), who will be just that after his Irish Derby runner-up effort.
Juddmonte International Stakes (Group 1)
DANON DECILE (10/1), winner of the Dubai Sheema Classic for Japan, is the surprise name among the early entries for the Juddmonte International.
Overlooked in the betting for the Sheema Classic, he beat Calandagan by a length and a quarter in the Meydan feature.
Eclipse Stakes runner-up OMBUDSMAN (7/2) is understandably the paper favourite as we stand.
Thursday 21st August
Lowther Stakes (Group 2)
Queen Mary scorer TRUE LOVE is likely to be sent off the market principle, while the local Tim Easterby yard will be hopeful of another big run from their filly, ARGENTINE TANGO.
Yorkshire Oaks (Group 1)
The popular grey filly ESTRANGE (5/1) will compete here before a possible tilt at the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe, as will the current Arc favourite KALPANA (4/1) for Juddmonte and Andrew Balding.
The Oaks winner MINNIE HAUK (2/1) and WHIRL (9/2) are obvious candidates after their exploits at Epsom.
Friday 22nd August
Gimcrack Stakes (Group 2)
Surprise July Stakes winner ZAVATERI (8/1) will be out to prove that Newmarket was no fluke with a bold showing in this six furlong Group 2.
Hat-trick seeking Superlative scorer SABA DESERT (10/1) is rather interesting too at a nice antepost price in our horse racing betting.
Nunthorpe Stakes (Group 1)
The Australian team looking ASFOORA (6/1) must be fancying their chances in the fastest sprint of the week at York.
Only beaten a length at Royal Ascot, the mare continues to race at the top of her game.
Fan favourite, BIG MOJO (16/1) will be popular amongst punters and his current odds won’t last long.
Saturday 23rd August
City Of York Stakes (Group 1)
After going down by a nose in the Queen Anne Stakes, ROSALLION (4/1) is highly probable to be the market favourite for this seven furlong Group 1.
If LAZZAT (9/2) makes a return visit to the UK after a successful raid on Royal Ascot, he should give the Hannon horse plenty to do.
Ebor Handicap (Heritage Handicap)
ETHICAL DIAMOND (10/1) gave Willie Mullins another Royal Ascot winner, powering down the outside to win the Duke of Edinburgh Stakes, and connections will be hoping for more of the same on the Knavesmire.
John and Thady Gosden train FRENCH MASTER (8/1) and the four-year-old is certainly a horse on the up, especially after the manner of his Royal Ascot victory.
Suggested Antepost Tip: Big Mojo (16/1, E/W) in the Nunthorpe Stakes.
If National Hunt racing is more your think then check out our latest Cheltenham betting here. But for flat fans, there are still a few months of the campaign remaining and the York Ebor Festival is of significant importance.
