York Ebor Festival Day 2 Predictions & Tips (2025)
Steve Mullington previews the action on the second day of the 2025 York Ebor Festival.
Regularly given the accolade of the highest rated mares and fillies race in Europe, the Group 1 Yorkshire Oaks, takes place on this day – twice won by the “Queen of the Turf” – Enable.
Bet on horse racing at William Hill
The Group 2 Lowther Stakes for two-year-olds has been won by subsequent 1000 Guineas winners Harayir, Cape Verdi and Russian Rhythm.
13:50 York – Group 2 Sky Bet Lowther Stakes
ARGENTINE TANGO has kept on improving all season, winning a Listed race at Newmarket before finishing third to Venetian Sun in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes.
At Goodwood she found Lady Iman too good for her in the Molecomb Stakes and this step back up to six will suit. She’s a serious each-way candidate in our horse racing betting.
14:25 York – 6f Harry’s Half Million By Goffs
Richard Fahey is never short of a winner or two at York, and his BOSTON DAN looks a real threat in this six furlong sprint for two-year-olds.

Never out of the first four in his four runs to date, this six furlong trip, plus the official going description of Good to Firm, should give him the ideal conditions to register his maiden victory.
15:00 York – Clipper Logistics Handicap
The Ed Bethell-trained OLD COCK (NAP) landed the Hambleton Handicap here at the Dante meeting, with connections hoping for a repeat performance today.
The four-year-old has already landed the silverware in four of his nine starts, and he gets into this one mile Class 2 handicap off a competitive weight.
15:35 York – Group 1 Darley Yorkshire Oaks for Fillies & Mares’ (British Champions Series)
Just four go to post in the Yorkshire Oaks this year, but I sense an upset will take place in the shape of the beautiful grey filly ESTRANGE.
The Cheveley Park Stud homebred is trained by David O’Meara and has won four of her five starts, with a victory in the Group 2 Lancashire Oaks last time out at Haydock making for a decent entry on her CV.
If she gets a touch of rain this week, it will further enhance her chances of being able to take down Aidan O’Brien’s Minnie Hauk, who obviously sets the standard in our online betting market.
16:10 York – Sir Henry Cecil Galtres Stakes
I seriously believe ALICE MONET has been underestimated in the betting for this 1m4f Listed event, and can land the spoils at decent odds.
Owned by Moyglare Stud, the filly has come into her own on her last couple of runs and her Teofilo bloodline should kick into play over this new 1m4f trip. The further she goes, the better she should be.
16:45 York – EBF Stallions Nursery Handicap
Tim Easterby and David Allan should not be taken lightly at York and DAYDREAMA can go well in his first handicap.
The colt was stretching away from the field over Pontefract’s tough six furlongs in July, which tells me that today’s seven furlongs will be well within his compass.
17:20 York – EBF Fillies’ Handicap
Running off just 8st 1lb at the bottom of the handicap, Dylan Cunha’s filly LADY MARIKO is worth a speculative each-way interest in a wide open race.
After moving to Cunha’s yard in May, Lady Mariko clocked up two nice victories over seven furlongs at Wetherby and Yarmouth, but after rearing up on her stalls exit at Newmarket, she blew any chance that she had. Hopefully she can bounce right back today.
