William Hill’s Sports Book of the Year is back for a 35th year, with the 2023 winner due to be announced on Thursday, 30th November. This year we’re introducing a second award for the best book cover from our long list. There’s no panel needed for his award, though, it’s voted for by you! The William Hill Sports Book of the Year Award is the world’s longest established and most-valuable literary sports-writing prize. Former winners include Michael Holding, Duncan Hamilton, David Goldblatt and Jeremy Wilson – who won in 2022 with his book Beryl: In Search of Britain’s Greatest Athlete.

The winning author will receive £30,000 and a trophy. Shortlisted authors receive £3,000 and a leather-bound copy of their book.
