Hungarian Grand Prix Predictions 2026: Ferrari Set To Dominate At The Hungaroring

William Hill News look ahead to Sunday’s Hungarian Grand Prix, with tips and predictions on this year’s big race as the Formula 1 season goes up another notch.

Kimi Antonelli is the F1 betting favourite for this weekend’s Hungarian Grand Prix after winning at Spa. The youngster overcame a brief blip to earn his sixth win of the season and extend his lead atop the Drivers’ Championship.

Lewis Hamilton’s fourth place in Belgium saw him leapfrog George Russell into second place in the standings after Russell retired from the race.

Ferrari’s Hopes

The windy nature of the Hungaroring should favour Ferrari. The power-hungry manner of Silverstone and Spa wasn’t meant to be good for the Scuderia, yet Charles Leclerc still managed to finish first and second, with Lewis Hamilton landing third and fourth.

Ferrari have been able to outperform Mercedes in the corners over the last few races. Budapest has a relatively low average speed and not much time at full throttle, so the straight-line speed disadvantage shouldn’t be as noticeable.

This is a real opportunity for Ferrari as they look to close the gap to Mercedes in both standings. Gradual improvements to the chassis have made Leclerc and Hamilton legitimate contenders at every race, and this is the kind of circuit where their racecraft will be on full show.

Russell Under Pressure

Russell is 50 points behind Antonelli after a worst possible outcome for the Brit in Belgium. He’s just not been able to put together consistent performances this season.

Luck has been bemoaned at points, but the prospect of a head-to-head championship battle seems to be impacting Mercedes’ supposed senior driver. Momentum built from Barcelona onwards has gone out the window, and losing more ground to Antonelli would make it even more difficult to overcome this deficit after the break.

Going into the summer hiatus on a high is key for Russell. This track might be good for the Ferraris, but the Silver Arrows are very much going to be in the mix.

Hungarian Grand Prix Best Bets

Ferrari have only had one race with both drivers on the podium this season, but that was as recently as Silverstone and they came close at Spa. They look set to be the fastest team on the grid this weekend with two in-form drivers.

Arvid Lindblad has made it five consecutive points finishes. Liam Lawson had five points finishes in a row before placing 12th in Belgium. Lawson will be running the new chassis this weekend after Lindblad earned a machinery upgrade for the last race, bringing the drivers onto a level playing field. The Racing Bulls have consistently been the best team outside the big four.

Aston Martin are bringing their first meaningful upgrade of the year in what could be the first step in a complete overhaul of the grid’s most disappointing car. As a result, Fernando Alonso seems like a decent longshot at 9/1 to record his first point(s) of the year.
