Since then, the political landscape has shifted dramatically with Trump at the helm as he tries to manipulate the 22nd Amendment to secure a third term in office.

JD Vance’s rise as a favourite for the presidency is closely linked to his strong alignment and vice-presidency to Donald Trump. Last year saw Trump pull off a decisive landslide victory against Kamala Harris, which many thought would have been a far closer contest, and he can’t be written off despite this relatively major catch.

His political brand of populism, strong conservative policies and ability to galvanise a significant voter base across key swing states remain powerful assets. Moreover, his political experience and established name recognition make him a strong candidate in 2028 should he go for it.
