*Bets void if no Deputy PM is appointed or elected by the end of the current UK Parliament.
With pressure mounting on the Labour government and Nigel Farage receiving plenty of support in the next Prime Minister odds, this was another huge blow for Starmer and his cabinet.
Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Angela Rayner’s resignation this morning is likely to spark a major reshuffle of Keir Starmer’s cabinet, with her replacement needing to be appointed.
“The early frontrunner to become Deputy Leader is Wes Streeting, at 4/1, closely followed by Yvette Cooper at 9/2. At 6/1, Pat McFadden and John Healey are both in contention, along with former Prime Minister and Labour leader Ed Miliband (10/1).”
With the political landscape looking particularly murky right now, the British public will be keeping a close eye on developments in the days and weeks to come.
