Night Eight of the 2025 Premier League Darts is set to take place on Thursday, March 27, at the Utilita Arena in Newcastle. This event promises to be a thrilling instalment in the 16-week tournament, featuring eight of the world’s top darts players competing in a knockout format.

Tournament Format

The Premier League Darts operates on a league system, with players earning points based on their performance each night. The top four players at the end of the league phase will advance to the play-offs, culminating in the final at The O2 Arena in London on May 29.

Luke Littler vs. Stephen Bunting

Luke Littler has been in sensational form this season, currently sitting at the top of the standings with 21 points. His three night wins so far have shown that he’s a force to be reckoned with, combining accuracy with consistency. Littler’s strong scoring and clinical finishing make him one of the favourites to claim another victory in Newcastle, and he’s 1/4 to emerge from this match victorious.

On the other hand, Stephen Bunting has had a tough time in this year’s Premier League, still searching for his first win after seven nights of competition. With a -22 leg difference and zero points, Bunting is at the bottom of the table, but that makes him a dangerous opponent who will be highly motivated to finally find his rhythm. Despite his struggles, Bunting’s experience and ability to produce under pressure means he can’t be counted out. It will be interesting to see if he can step up to the plate; he’s 4/1 to upset The Nuke.

Gerwyn Price vs. Rob Cross

Gerwyn Price has shown glimpses of his best form this season, sitting in fourth place with 12 points and two night wins under his belt. Known for his intense competitiveness and crowd-pumping style, Price will look to build momentum heading into the latter half of the season. His ability to perform on the big stage, especially in high-pressure situations, makes him a formidable opponent in this match-up and is the 8/11 favourite in this match.

Rob Cross, who currently occupies fifth place with 10 points, has been solid but hasn’t quite hit the heights expected of him. With a -5 leg difference, Cross has often found himself on the wrong side of close matches. However, his consistency and experience in major tournaments could be key to pulling off a surprise. If Cross can sharpen his game and capitalise on any mistakes from Price, he could very well advance to the semi-finals, and is 11/10 to do so.

Luke Humphries vs. Chris Dobey

Luke Humphries is in excellent form this season, sitting in second place with 15 points, which includes two night wins. He has shown both resilience and precision, making him one of the most consistent performers in this Premier League campaign. Humphries will be confident heading into this quarter-final at a price of 4/11, but he must be wary of Chris Dobey, who will have the advantage of the home crowd behind him.

Chris Dobey has had a mixed campaign, occupying seventh place with just five points. Despite his lower position, Dobey is known for his ability to raise his game in front of his home supporters. The pressure of playing in Newcastle will add an extra layer of intensity, and the 2022 World Matchplay finalist will be looking to exploit any weaknesses in Humphries’ game. If Dobey can find his best form, he has the potential to cause an upset, but remains the outsider at 21/10.

Michael van Gerwen vs. Nathan Aspinall

This is a fascinating quarter-final matchup between two of the biggest names in darts. Michael van Gerwen, the three-time Premier League champion, is currently in third place with 13 points. While he hasn’t been as dominant as usual, his experience in high-stakes matches cannot be overlooked. Van Gerwen’s scoring power and aggressive style mean that he’s always a threat, and at 8/15, he will be determined to bounce back from a few disappointing results in the previous rounds.

Nathan Aspinall, who has shown great resilience this season, sits in sixth place with eight points and one night win. Aspinall recently claimed his first European Tour title, and his confidence is growing with each match. His solid all-round game will be tested against van Gerwen’s firepower, but if Aspinall can stay composed and capitalize on any mistakes from the Dutchman, he could make a serious push for a place in the semi-finals. The Asp is 6/4 to overcome Van Gerwen.

Tournament Favourites

Understandably, Luke Littler is favourite to claim the Premier League title this year at 4/5, following his success in the competition last year as well as his recent PDC Championship title haul. ‘Cool Hand’ Luke Humphries narrowly trails ‘The Nuke’ at 12/5, followed by league-veteran Michael van Gerwen at 13/2. Gerwyn Price is 8/1, while Rob Cross is 25/1, followed by The Asp at 33/1. Chris Dobey and Stephen Bunting are outsiders to claim the title at 66/1 and 100/1 respectively.
