| BY News Team

Michael Carrick has been cut dramatically from 25/1 to 7/1 with to become the first Premier League manager to leave this season with William Hill News, after Manchester United suffered a shock 2-0 defeat at newly promoted Hull City on the opening weekend.

Carrick now sits in a four-way tie for second favouritism at 7/1 in the First Premier League Manager to Leave market, alongside Hull boss Sergej Jakirović, Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi and Aston Villa’s Unai Emery.

Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner remains the market leader at 13/2 after his side began the campaign with a 1-0 home defeat to Leeds United. But one of the biggest price moves of the weekend belongs to Carrick, whose odds have collapsed from 25/1 following United’s disappointing display at the MKM Stadium.

Jakirović is also 7/1 despite guiding Hull to the win that sent Carrick’s price tumbling. De Zerbi joins the group after Spurs were beaten 3-0 by Brentford, while Emery is 7/1 after Aston Villa were dismantled 4-0 by Brighton and occupy 20th in the Premier League table.

First Premier League Manager to Leave Odds

  • Oliver Glasner – 13/2
  • Michael Carrick – 7/1, from 25/1
  • Roberto De Zerbi – 7/1
  • Sergej Jakirović – 7/1

Spokesperson for William Hill, Lee Phelps, said: “Michael Carrick has seen one of the biggest moves in the First Premier League Manager to Leave betting after just one weekend of football, crashing from 25/1 into 7/1 following Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat at Hull.

“Losing to a newly promoted side is never ideal, but the manner of the performance has clearly got punters thinking that Carrick could quickly come under pressure if United do not respond. He is now level at 7/1 with the manager who beat him, Sergej Jakirović, as well as Roberto De Zerbi and Unai Emery.

“Oliver Glasner remains the early favourite at 13/2 after Forest’s home defeat to Leeds, but Carrick’s odds have been the standout market move.”
