Frank Lampard’s first season in the Premier League couldn’t have started in much better fashion. His Chelsea side sit fourth in the league table and have won their last five matches in the competition. It’s a start that has been lauded by many, including Robbie Savage.

The William Hill ambassador spoke to us exclusively about Chelsea’s start to the season under Lampard…

“If someone had said to me at the start of the season that Chelsea would be the top team come the end of it, I would have thought – are you having a laugh?

“They’ve got a transfer ban, it’s Super Frank’s first year as a Premier League manager and I would have thought no chance, but they are playing ever so well.

“They are in a great position in the Premier League, two points behind Manchester City.

“In his first season as Chelsea manager after 11 games, Jose Mourinho had 21 points, while Frank has 23. Seven consecutive away wins in all competitions, something only one other Chelsea manager has done, and they are currently on the longest winning run in the league – five wins from five. That’s the best in any of the top-five leagues in Europe.

“The side has experienced players helping those academy graduates to develop and the graduates have grabbed the opportunity with both hands.

“What a performance from Frank’s team already this season. They are my second favourite team and I think they will finish as the top team in London and grab a Champions League spot.”
