Wigan Top Early Super League Odds After Wakefield’s Stunning Win

Wakefield Trinity’s stunning win over the Warrington Wolves in the Grand Final hit bookies hard and gave bettors plenty to think about as they evaluate next year’s Super League betting markets.

Six teams are 9/1 or shorter to win the 2027 Grand Final. Warrington will be looking to go one better after their loss in this year’s showpiece.

On the Grand Final and with a preview of next season, William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said, “Following Wakefield’s shock Grand Final victory, which hit our trading floor for a five-figure loss, we are already looking ahead to who could be the dominant force in Super League next season.

“Wigan are our early 13/8 favourites to top the table once again, with this year’s second-place side, Leeds Rhinos, narrowly trailing them at 10/3.

“2025 Champions Hull KR are taken to improve on this season’s sixth-place finish as they sit third in the betting at 5/1, narrowly ahead of St Helens and defending Champions Wakefield (both 7/1).”

Despite reaching the Grand Final, Warrington reside at 9/1. They are the last of the serious contenders.

Phelps continued, “Grand Finalists Warrington are the final team at single-figure odds, with Leigh Leopards leading the charge for the outsiders at 25/1.

“Of the remaining teams Castleford are the last to lift the League Leaders’ Shield in an uninterrupted season, but at 150/1 it’s hard to see them replicating their 2017 heroics 10 years on.”

Wakefield, fresh off winning their first title since going back-to-back in the 1960s, are given a decent chance of competing again in 2027.

In recent Super League history, it’s been rare to see three different champions over a three-year period. Wigan, Hull, and Wakefield combined for this feat 2024-26, which is the first time it’s happened since Leeds, Wigan, and St. Helens won in 2017, 2018, and 2019, respectively.
