Prior to Sunday’s dominant victory over Scotland at Murrayfield, Ireland were as big as 2/1 to complete the Grand Slam this year but they are now odds on to record a second Slam in the last three years.
Wales are up next and Ireland are priced at 1/50 to win that match and victory would secure the Triple Crown, but Irish rugby fans already have one eye on the mouth-watering clash with France on 8th March 2025.
Les Bleus fell short agonisingly short against England at Twickenham on Saturday, with Elliot Daly’s late try giving Steve Borthwick’s side a much needed victory after their opening weekend defeat to Ireland.
And the momentum is well and truly with the Irish after they clinched a second successive bonus point victory, scoring four tries in a dominant performance in Edinburgh in round two.
Lee Phelps, spokesperson for William Hill, said: “Ireland have started the Six Nations in swashbuckling style, with statement victories against England and Scotland, and on the back of those victories we’ve cut their odds of completing the Grand Slam from 2/1 to 10/11.
“The Irish have shortened significantly to 1/50 from 1/2 to claim the Triple Crown, with only Wales standing in their way.
“England’s triumph against France has seen their odds slashed to 7/2 from 9/1 to be Six Nations champions but Steve Borthwick’s men remain second favourites behind Ireland, who are 8/15 to lift the trophy for a third year in a row.”
