WXV Global Series USA vs England: Red Roses to get back to winning ways in New Jersey
USA Women host England Women in New Jersey on Friday night for their final fixtures of the WXV global series, and William Hill news are here to predict how the night might unfold.
The WXV Global Series draws to a close this weekend and the Red Roses finish a side that has lost its aura of invincibility. England head to New Jersey after back-to-back defeats to Canada, while the USA are on a historic winning run.
USA Women vs England Women
Our prediction: England Women -29 Handicap Betting – 10/11
England look to stop the rot
For four years, England seemed untouchable. Canada have ended that over the past six weeks, first with a 26-26 draw in Exeter that finished a 39-game winning streak. Then came a 24-21 defeat in Toronto, ending a 41-match unbeaten run, and a 31-22 loss in Ottawa. That was England’s first back-to-back defeats in a decade.
There were positives. Maddie Feaunati has scored in both Canada defeats, and Zoe Harrison and Amy Cokayne have also crossed the whitewash. But England have coughed up possession in key moments and conceded too much territory. Captain Meg Jones insisted after Ottawa that the team is “not broken”, and John Mitchell’s side will be desperate to prove it.
USA the form team of women’s Test rugby
The Eagles have won five in a row for the first time since 2006. They beat Ireland 40-36 after trailing 31-12, edged Wales 26-24, and then beat Italy twice, 36-27 in Texas and 54-24 in Nashville.
Jack Hanratty’s side is built around its pack. Freda Tafuna has two WXV hat-tricks, and the Eagles’ forwards scored all eight tries in Nashville. Bella Vogel is reliable off the tee and Alev Kelter has been in dangerous form out wide.
Head-to-Head
History favours England heavily. They won 61-21 at WXV 1 in 2024 and 69-7 at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup. Neither team will treat those scorelines as a guide, given how much has changed this autumn.
Prediction
The Eagles should be full of confidence off the back of their five-game win streak, and England have certainly shown they are far from unbeatable recently. But England’s quality should still tell. Their attack has not been the problem, and a motivated Red Roses squad should have too much firepower and too much experience.
Expect a tight, physical contest up front and a scrappier second half than the head-to-head suggests. England should do enough to avoid a third straight defeat.
