English Open Outright Winner Prediction: Judd Trump Value To Bounce Back After British Open Disappointment
Judd Trump is the snooker betting favourite to win the 2026 English Open ahead of Mark Selby and Wu Yize.
The event, which was won by Mark Allen in 2025, has been won two times apiece by Trump and Selby. Neil Robertson is the only non-Englishman to win the English Open since 2016.
Form Players
Jak Jones beat Selby in the final of the British Open, making the Welshman the tour’s form man heading to Brentwood. Trump and Selby won the Shanghai Masters and China Open, respectively, while Chinese players were dominant at the Wuhan Open.
Chang Bingyu, who beat Trump in the quarters and Ronnie O’Sullivan in the semis, defeated Zhao Xintong in the final. Zhao had seen off top seed Xiao Guodong in the last four.
Chang is tied for the fourth-shortest odds at this event at 8/1 alongside Shaun Murphy and Kyren Wilson. It’s been a disappointing run for Wilson after losing the final of the Shanghai Masters earlier this season, with premature exits from the Wuhan Open and the China Open.
Best Bets
Selby and Wilson are alone in the top half of the draw. Selby, already a champion this year, has been playing at a very high level since a disappointment at the Shanghai Masters, and looks like a great bet at 10/3 to reach the final. He’s got recent success over Wilson if the two meet.
Jones has pulled out, further opening up the top half of this draw. Chris Wakelin, for instance, hasn’t had the best start to the year, but there’s a real opportunity to go on a deep run if he can find some form. He’s 20/1 to go all the way.
