Dancing on Ice: Lisa George discusses new series

| BY News Team

Here at William Hill we caught up with Lisa George, who plays Beth Tinker in the popular TV soap Coronation Street and is one of the celebrities in this year’s Dancing on Ice, to discuss the new series of the show as well as a few other things…

How are you finding Dancing on Ice so far?

It’s honestly been such an amazing experience! It’s hard work, don’t get me wrong, very long hours of training and filming, and I’m still filming Coronation Street alongside it! My ankles are in bits and my body is really feeling it but I’m living out a childhood dream that I never thought would come true and it’s just brilliant.

What are you looking forward to the most?

Performing in week one, I was actually really nervous and self-conscious. I’m looking forward to getting back out on the ice – I’m feeling more confident and excited, so hopefully our next performance will be even better.

If you could play a different character in Coronation Street who would you play?

Probably one of the Barlows or Platts because they get many dramatic storylines and really get to flex their acting muscles. Or Tracy Barlow – I’d quite like to see what it’s like to step into Tracy Barlow’s shoes, what with all the barneys she has on screen, but I do love playing Beth so much because she is a world away from what I’m actually like and people are always shocked when they meet me.

Have you got a lucky number?

It’s 49 because it’s the year I got back on to the ice after 40 years and really proved to myself you can do anything you put your mind to.

Who is the most famous person in your phone?

Oh that’s a good question. Apart from all my Corrie cast friends I’d probably have to say Antony Costa or Tony Maudsley from Benidorm.

What’s your go-to takeaway?

I’m really boring when it comes to food and I’m not much of a takeaway person, but it would have to be a chippy tea for me!

Did you make any New Year’s resolutions?

To lose some weight and look better in my clothes before I turn 50, and to say yes to things that I usually wouldn’t do, like Dancing on Ice!
