Oscars Best Actor Odds: Chalamet moves ahead of DiCaprio

Timothée Chalamet has surged to the top of the betting with William Hill to claim his first ever Oscar over Leonardo DiCaprio, following a flurry of support for his performance in Marty Supreme.
The actor’s portrayal in the upcoming sports comedy-drama has captured the attention of critics and fans alike, with early screenings suggesting it could be one of the standout performances of awards season.
The Dune and Call Me By Your Name star has been backed into even-money from 11/2 to scoop the Best Actor award at the 98th Academy Awards, overtaking long-time favourite Leonardo DiCaprio in the market.
Chalamet’s growing reputation as one of Hollywood’s most versatile young talents has clearly resonated with punters, who are confident that this could finally be his year.
DiCaprio, who was the early frontrunner at 7/4 for his role in One Battle After Another, has now drifted to 5/2, while Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is next in line at 4/1 for The Smashing Machine. With momentum swinging firmly in Chalamet’s favour, the Best Actor race looks set to be one of the most competitive in recent years.

The market movement comes after early screenings of Marty Supreme reportedly wowed critics and audiences alike. With the sports comedy-drama due to hit cinemas on New Year’s Day 2026, Chalamet’s price could shorten even further in the run-up to the Oscars.
William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “We’ve seen a big shift in the betting for the Best Actor at the 98th Academy Awards, as Timothee Chalamet has been backed into even-money from 11/2.
“With the film due to be released on New Years Day 2026, we could see Chalamet go even shorter for his first Oscar when the sports comedy-drama hits our screens.
“Leonardo DiCaprio finally broke his Oscars duck in 2015, and he was well fancied to double his tally following his performance in One Battle After Another, but with the money coming for Chalamet his odds have drifted out to 5/2 from 7/4, and he has been replaced at the top of the market.”
As the countdown to the 98th Academy Awards continues, all eyes will be on Chalamet’s latest performance — and whether Marty Supreme can live up to the hype.
With several high-profile films yet to premiere and critics’ awards still to come, the landscape could shift again before the big night. But for now, momentum is firmly behind Chalamet, and if the early buzz is anything to go by, he could finally be on course to lift the golden statue that has long seemed destined to be his.
