SPOTY Odds: Rory McIlroy Joins Chloe Kelly as Favourite

| BY News Team

Rory McIlroy has surged to joint favouritism in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year betting with William Hill after another glittering weekend on the fairways saw him clinch his seventh Race to Dubai title.

The Northern Irishman, who completed the career Grand Slam with his Masters victory in April and helped guide Team Europe to Ryder Cup glory in September, was 13/8 second favourite last week but has now shortened into 11/8 – level with England football star Chloe Kelly at the top of the market.

Kelly, who inspired the Lionesses to Euro 2025 success earlier this year, has drifted slightly from 5/4 to 11/8, while F1 sensation Lando Norris rounds off the top three at 10/3. Beyond the leading trio, there’s a significant gap to the rest of the field, with the next contenders priced at 33/1 or longer.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “It looks to be a three-horse race in our Sports Personality of the Year market, but Rory McIlroy landing his seventh Race to Dubai title over the weekend has seen him sneak alongside Chloe Kelly as favourite.

“It’s no secret McIlroy has had arguably his best year to date, with his Masters win in April securing his career Grand Slam, and he’s shortened from 13/8 into 11/8 to head the betting with Kelly.

“The Lionesses ace’s odds, however, have drifted to 11/8 from 5/4, with Lando Norris making up the top three at 10/3.”

It’s been a year to remember for Rory McIlroy, who at 36 has arguably produced the finest season of his career. His Masters victory in April saw him complete the elusive career Grand Slam, joining an exclusive club featuring only five other players in history – while his consistency throughout the season culminated in a record-breaking seventh Race to Dubai title.

That success, combined with his triumphant performances at the Ryder Cup, has made him a firm fan favourite and put him in prime position to claim his first ever BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.

Chloe Kelly, however, remains a strong contender. The England forward was a key figure in the Lionesses’ Euro 2025 triumph, scoring crucial goals throughout the tournament and once again emerging as one of the faces of women’s football.

Her inspirational performances have not only cemented her status as a national icon but kept her firmly in contention for one of the UK’s most prestigious sporting honours.

Behind the two front-runners is Lando Norris at 10/3 who leads the 2025 Drivers’ standings ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, capping off a great year for McLaren and having shown the strong pairing can put their foot down when required.
