Can the United Kingdom defy the odds to win Eurovision for the first time since 1997? William Hill are going 25/1 for the UK to be crowned Eurovision winners in Austria next year.

Sam Ryder came close when representing the UK in 2022, finishing second to Ukraine, but that was a one-off as the United Kingdom has failed to finish in the top 10 on 14 occasions since 2010.

“The last time the UK emerged victorious from the competition was back in 1997, thanks to Katrina and the Waves’ Love Shine a Light, but it’s been almost 30 years since the glass microphone came back to British shores.

“The five-time Eurovision winners will be hoping to find success in Austria 2026, after only managing to clinch a top-20 finish in Basel earlier this year.”

With the United Kingdom way down the pecking order according to the betting, it may prove prudent for punters to look elsewhere in the market. History suggests the UK have little chance but you never know…
