Lee Phelps’ Premier League Picks: Liverpool a big price

| BY News Team

Manchester City are bookending the international break, with their 4-4 at Chelsea and this game at home to Liverpool – surely we won’t get another thriller, will we?

A lot of the build-up is understandably about Erling Haaland and Mo Salah’s form. The Norwegian will smash the record for the fastest 50 goals in Premier League history if he scores, while Salah is two off 200 for the Reds.
In terms of betting on them, Man City’s marksman is odds on to score in the game, while the Liverpool legend is over 2/1 and he’s scored 11 times against the champions including in all four games last season.
As far as the game goes, Klopp’s men are over 3/1 to win and that is too big for a team of their quality.
Chelsea are in the North East to play Newcastle at 3pm and go there with a poor record, in fact they’ve only lost more away games at Arsenal and Liverpool in the Premier League.
I know Chelsea scored four against City but they seem a little short at St James’ Park and I can only think Newcastle are being priced up on injuries, but if they have a few players back, the home win could be interesting bet.
Either way I expect goals with Newcastle’s defence weakened and Chelsea being Chelsea. So I’ll go with Anthony Gordon to score at anytime at 13/5.
Let’s round this off with Sunday’s game between Everton and Manchester United at Goodison Park. It’s ‘odds-on’ the home fans will make it a cauldron as the club closes ranks after their points deduction and uses siege mentality to fight the relegation battle they’re in.
They’ve averaged just over a point a game so far this season and will need a better return from their remaining games to be sure of retaining their Premier League status. Although the weakness of the other teams down there will help them out of it. Anyway, as far as this game goes as boring as it sounds, a draw with both teams scoring is 10/3 and good enough for me.
