Lucinda Russell’s William Hill blog: Don’t rule out Apple Away or Giovinco

Tuesday, Cheltenham

Apple Away runs in the National Hunt Chase (5.30pm). The trip is an unknown but in my view she has all the credentials to stay very well and run a big race here. Her jumping is neat, not extravagant, but I don’t see her having any issues with the undulating track.

They’re all novices and are likely to improve on what they’ve shown, but I do think she’s a very solid each-way contender. We’re delighted to have Barry O’Neill on board, he’s one of the best around and has plenty of experience at Cheltenham.

Do I think she’s up to the level of ability to win this? Yes, I do. I can’t wait to see how she gets on.

Wednesday, Cheltenham

Our runner on Wednesday is Giovinco in the Brown Advisory (2.10pm).

I’ve always rated him very highly and three miles over fences is where we thought he’d really flourish. The form of his close second to Stay Away Fay at Sandown reads very well and the fact there’s such a big difference in the price between them seems a bit unfair to me.

We’ll put on a red hood before the race to keep a lid on him and if we can get him nice and relaxed, I really wouldn’t be surprised to see him run a big race. I think the world of the horse and he’s certainly no back number despite him being the outsider of the field.

I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he was involved come the finish and hopefully he can be.
